Glen Thorne is a three bedroomed semi detached Victorian holiday home situated close to the centre of the pretty coastal town of Yarmouth and just minutes from the beautiful River Yar, the old Railway line and some wonderful walks. The house, with its own self contained garden and off street parking, sleeps six guests and has a family bathroom and separate shower room. An open-plan kitchen/dining/living room opening onto the garden is perfect for warm summer days whilst there is a separate cosy sitting room with wood burning stove for cooler spring nights, giving Glen Thorne all year round appeal. The house has a lovely homely feel and is family and dog friendly.
Yarmouth is a really lovely old town renowned for its sailing with a good variety of privately owned shops, pubs and restaurants. Glen Thorne is less than five minutes walk from both the centre of the town and the ferry terminal and just ten minutes from Yarmouth’s family friendly Sandhard beach (which can also be accessed from the harbour itself by the harbour taxi). Sandhard beach is sandy, has safe swimming and has a dedicated barbeque area. Glen Thorne is also just a couple of minutes’ walk from the old railway line running along the River Yar and is ideal for walking and cycling.
The Isle of Wight is a beautiful island to visit with so much to see and do for adults and children alike. Many of the attractions are within only minutes of the house, and even its most distant attractions are less than forty five minutes’ drive away. Visitor attractions are endless and range enormously from the stately Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle, to the calm tranquility of the Ventnor Botanical Gardens. There are also plenty of great days out for family fun including Blackgang Chine Adventure Park, Robin Hill, Dinosaur Isle and Isle of Wight Zoo to name but a few.
Glen Thorne is ideally located to allow you to explore the beautiful West Wight, which is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is a wonderful cycling and walking area with footpaths very close to the house joining the coastal path after meandering beside the river towards Freshwater where there is a good pub for lunch. The river is a haven for a wide range of birds and dragonflies and in the woods along the river you may spot an elusive red squirrel.
All around the West Wight there are excellent restaurants and great opportunities for not only walking and cycling but also golf, crabbing and boat trips. Surfing and the long sandy beaches of Compton and Brook are only twenty minutes’ drive away whilst the sandy bays of Colwell and Totland are within a ten minute drive. For those wishing to explore the island by bicycle, lockable bike storage is available and there is a cycle hire shop just minutes from the house.

Glen Thorne has a lovely homely feel and can accommodate six people in three bedrooms.
Outside: The garden is self-contained and laid mainly to lawn with space to relax outside when the sun shines. A small patio area provides the perfect place for BBQ's and alfresco dining with table and chairs seating six. There is a garage (approached by an unmade gravel lane) which can be used to park one car or alternatively, one car can be parked parallel to the garage. If not using the garage for a car, bikes, surf boards and outdoor gear can be stored there.
Additional information: WiFi internet access on the ground floor of the house. Central heating throughout and included in the price along with all other utilities. Logs are provided during low season (not June to August inc). Bedlinen is provided, along with hand towels (please bring your own bath and beach towels as they are not provided), tea towels, oven gloves and a few essentials such as a kitchen/toilet roll, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid etc. Well behaved pets are welcome but must be kept off furniture and downstairs (an additional charge of £25 per dog per week applies). Cot available (but please bring your own bedding for the cot as it is not supplied). Strictly no smoking. Friday is the preferred changeover day but the owner will try to accommodate Saturday where necessary. For those without a car, the house is a short walk from the ferry terminal and there is a bus service into Newport, the capital of the island.
