What makes it so special is the River Windrush running right through the middle, crossed by low stone bridges that everyone wants to photograph.

Honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings line the water, and with over 380 listed buildings here, everywhere you look has a story to tell. It sits beautifully in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and evidence has found habitation in the area since around 401 AD.

The village is tiny, just one main street, but every building is part of its chocolate box appeal. There are medieval cottages, a 13th-century church and even an old market cross that’s been standing since the 14th century. All are built in the attractive, honey-coloured Cotswold stone – picture perfect.

What’s also lovely is how untouched it feels.
