The View @ Pier House Glencoe will take your breath away. The beautiful waterfront holiday cottage is on the shores of Loch Leven, with waterfront views that will have you rising early to make the most of your time here. There is space for two people to sleep in the charming two-storey property, which has recently been renovated to ensure the interiors are as impressive as the stunning Highland setting. In around five minutes you can walk from the cottage to Glencoe's village shop and pub, the Glencoe Gathering. Alternatively, Ballachulish and The Laroch bar and restaurant are just over half a mile or a 15-minute walk in the other direction.
Glencoe is amazing. The quiet village is part of the Lochaber Geopark, with spectacular views of a landscape shaped by glaciers and volcanoes. Walking, mountain biking, climbing, and abseiling are all easily accessible in the surrounding mountains. Scale the Buachaille Etive Mor, Bidean nam Bian, or Aonach Eagach. Fort William and the Mamores are 17 miles away at the eastern end of the loch or map a route around Ballachulish or Inchtree Falls. Loch Leven isn't only nice to look at; it's also a top choice for SUPs, wild swimming, and sea kayaking. In winter, you can ski and snowboard at the Glencoe Mountain Resort.
It doesn't all have to be action and adventure unless that's your preference. The Glencoe Visitor Centre is an excellent place to learn about the history of the local people, including the tragic MacDonalds, and the landscape. Driving the Glen Etive Road is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many visitors and certainly one you'll never forget. Enjoy the hospitality of historic pubs like the Ben Nevis Inn, where you can appreciate incredible mountain views while you eat. Other local attractions include the ruins of the old Inverlochy Castle, Ben Nevis Distillery, West Highland Museum, Neptune's Staircase on the Caledonian Canal, and Steall Falls. Book a seat on the West Highland Railway between Fort William and Mallaig, play golf, or fish for salmon in the River Lochy.
