The Mews Apartment at Daviot Lodge is a 4-star self-catering holiday apartment close to Inverness and some favourite sights and attractions in the Scottish Highlands. Whilst the first-floor holiday apartment is bijou, the space is cleverly used and complimented high quality fittings, providing everything couples or solo explorers need for a wonderful holiday, including relaxing rural views over the 80 private acres that belong to Daviot Lodge.
Inverness is one of Scotland's most popular destinations for a Highland holiday. There is a wealth of things to do all year round, making it a fantastic choice for all seasons. Get your bearings with a ride on one of the hop-on, hop-off bus tours which includes stops at St Andrew's Cathedral, the Tomnahurich Bridge and Dochgaroch Lock. The Inverness Museum and Art Gallery is a fantastic place to find out more about how the area's past and people helped to shape Scotland over the centuries. Go shopping in the Victorian Market and walk beside the River Ness which flows into probably the world's most famous Loch.
Day trips can include exploring Loch Ness, which is just outside the city. The northern end of the loch is about a 20-minute drive from the apartment, but it is worth travelling an extra 10 minutes to reach Urquart Castle for the history and the views. Culloden is the site of one of Britain's bloodiest battles. Just over 1,500 people died in an hour, squashing the Jacobite uprising for good and placing Scotland back under the rule of the British king. The battlefield and graves remain as a poignant memorial, and there is an excellent visitor centre with lots of useful information.
Other attractions in the area include Cawdor Castle, referred to by Shakespeare in Macbeth, and the RZSS Wildlife Park where visitors can see grey wolves and Scottish wildcats in their native environment. Wander around the Inverness Botanic Gardens or spend a day in the seaside town of Nairn. Fort George gives a fascinating look into Scotland's military history, and its walls are a good place to spot the pod of dolphins that flourish in the Moray Firth.
Even by Scottish standards, the variety of golf courses around The Mews Apartment are excellent. With 16 different courses in under an hour's drive, there is something for all players. Hiking, fishing and cycling are also popular ways to enjoy this incredible landscape.
The Mews Apartment at Daviot Lodge is available all year round. Please see the owner's website for details.
