The Cottage is in a picture-perfect location beside the historic Caledonian Canal at Dochgarroch Lock. The owners have restored this period holiday home to a very high standard with lovely features throughout. It easily sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms and is ideal for couples or small families. If you need to squeeze in one or two more people, they'll be happy on the comfortable sofa bed in the living room. The location is so idyllic that it's difficult to believe that you're only a few miles from the busy city of Inverness. You'll have space, peace, and the huge views for which the Highlands are famous, combined with the convenience of city restaurants and amenities less than four miles away.
Dochgarroch Lock is one of the closest locks to Inverness on the Caledonian Canal, making it a favourite spot for city dwellers to walk or cycle. It's gorgeous in every season, whether you walk its length or sit in the courtyard cafe that's a stone's throw from the cottage, enjoying the pleasure of a freshly prepared brunch or lunch. Dochgarroch is at the northern point of Loch Ness. You can drive down its length to see if you can spot Nessie, but we recommend booking a spot on Loch Ness by Jacobite, which moors near the cottage and sails from Dochgarroch to the world's most famous loch several times a day. Loch Ness isn't just a place to spot mythical creatures. It's also great for sailing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. With an 80-mile circumference, it's also a favourite place for walking and cycling, and there's always somewhere secluded where you can picnic in privacy.
Around the area are breathtaking sights that include Abriachan Forest, Farigaig Forest and Plodda Falls. Walk to the viewpoint at Craigmonie via Divach Falls, or go to the Falls of Foyers and Farigaig Forest, both south of Loch Ness. Other nearby lochs include Tarff, Mullardoch, Duntelchaig, Bran and Lochan Torr an Tuill near Inverfarigaig. Inverness is packed with sights and attractions and is a great choice for a day or a night out.
The Cottage is one of two fantastic Inverness holiday cottages the owner has at Dochgarroch Lock. It is available for bookings all year round, giving you no reason not to book your next Highland holiday.
