Craigmor sleeps eight guests and is located in a fantastic position in Durness on Scotland's north-western tip. A thriving crofting community, Durness is surrounded by a picturesque rugged coastline, majestic mountains and wide sandy unpolluted beaches.
Adjoining Cranstackie (sleeping four), the cottages can be rented together for larger groups of up to twelve making them ideal for friends or families who want to explore this wonderful part of Scotland together whilst having the good degree of personal space a separate cottage offers.
This is true Mackay country, where you will see lots of ruined settlements, cairns and brochs that give a sense of the long and turbulent history. In days gone by, Norsemen, on their way to Ireland, would navigate their ships around Cape Wrath and at times come ashore and visit Durness. True to their Norse ancestral roots, the original settlers delighted in passing on stories and tales, and there is hardly a loch, bay or hill locally that doesn't have its own ghost to boast about! Although the spectral residents are yet to be seen, the breathtaking Northern Lights provide an equally fascinating sighting, as do the whales playing in the water if you are luck enough to catch a glimpse.
There is plenty to do in the area including fantastic hill and mountain walking; fishing (both sea and salmon/trout), deer stalking; hill lochs to explore, nine hole golf links, friendly pubs and restaurants and incredible expansive quiet beaches. The traditional large Highland fishing harbour of Kinlochbervie is nearby and worth a visit to watch the fishermen landing their catch.

One of two stone cottages, Craigmor sleeps up to eight guests in four bedrooms and offers a warm Scottish welcome and a real 'home from home' with all the facilities needed to self-cater.
The croft, which sits behind the cottage with its rocky outcrops is a popular place for older children to explore and let off steam. The friendly sheep that graze all around do a good job of cutting the grass! Spectacular Sango Bay is just a short stroll from the cottages with its vast expanse of clean white sand and rock pools for the children to explore (and adults!). There is also a grocers, gift shop and pub just a short stroll away and with little traffic in Durness to worry about, children of a suitable age should be able to pop to the shop for sweets or to the beach.
Relax in the cosy cottage at the end of the day with its warm inviting atmosphere enhanced by antique pine, natural stone and the flicker of a real flame in the fire. After supper, get some fresh air and stroll along Balnakeil Bay and take in the wonderful cliff views over Faraid Head, or wander down to the local pub and enjoy a dram whilst watching the sun go down over the bay.
Offering spacious accommodation, Craigmor has a king-size master bedroom, two first floor twin bedrooms, a ground floor double, separate shower and bathrooms, large tiled kitchen and laundry room. There is plenty of parking and space to relax outside.
