Beech Lodge is a charming Herefordshire holiday cottage in the quiet village of Garway, within walking distance of the Garway Moon Inn pub. Sleeping five people in three bedrooms, it's close to the River Monnow and the Welsh Border and has fantastic views from the house and the gardens. Guests love that it's detached and not overlooked, with beautiful walks and bike rides accessible from the door. Although the holiday home is spacious enough for families, including those with dogs, its size won't overwhelm couples.
The border between Herefordshire and Monmouthshire is well-known for the beauty of its countryside. Not only are you a stone's throw from the magnificent Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but you're only a short drive from the Brecon Beacons National Park. Garway Hill is a favourite walk for locals and visitors, offering panoramic views of the Black Mountains in the West, the Malvern Hills in the east and, on a clear day, the Bristol Channel. Skenfrith Castle is a few miles from the cottage. It's a fantastic walking or cycling destination in its own right and is one-third of the 19-mile "Three Castles" route linking it with Grosmont Castle and White Castle.
You'll never be bored when you stay at Beech Lodge. Walking, cycling and mountain biking are extremely popular in all seasons. The Rivers Monnow, Usk and Wye lend themselves beautifully to fishing, kayaking, wild swimming and paddle boarding, with gorge walking and climbing two more ways to enjoy being outdoors. You don't have to scramble up a mountain or throw yourself into the water to have fun. Why not try your hand at blacksmithing at the Old Field Forge? Hereford, Monmouth, Ross-on-Wye, and Abergavenny are all less than half an hour's drive from the door, with a great choice of places to eat, drink and shop as well as attractions like Abergavenny Castle and Hereford Cathedral.
