Whitsun Cottage is a perfectly formed cosy Victorian Cottage within a modern gated courtyard complex in the seaside town of Gosport. The sweet one-bedroom holiday cottage is ideal for couples or solo travellers, with space to accommodate a third person on a sofa bed if required. Shops, cafes, pubs and the harbour front are all within a short walk, as is the passenger ferry between Gosport and Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.
Gosport is great. This coastal Hampshire town is the perfect size for a holiday. It's big enough to be convenient - you can easily pick up shopping or go out for a pint or a meal. However, it's small enough to be friendly and personal, the pace is slower, and you won't need a car to explore should you prefer not to drive. Start your exploration with a walk around the point, passing Fort Blockhouse, Fort Monckton and Fort Gillkicker and admiring beautiful views over the Solent towards the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth as you go. The Waterfront Trail stretches for two miles between the Royal Naval Submarine Museum and Explosion! The Museum of Naval Firepower. Being a peninsula, Gosport is a favourite spot for sailing, boating and other water sports. Throw in the Museum of Diving and the Hovercraft Museum to gain a well-rounded knowledge of Britain's maritime history.
Gosport ferry terminal is only a short walk from Whitsun Cottage. With ferries leaving every 15 minutes and taking only four minutes to reach Gunwharf Quays, you can quickly arrange a fun-filled day (or night) in Portsmouth. Go shopping, discover the secrets of Nelson's flagship, the HMS Victory, Henry VIII's Mary Rose, and the fleet that powered the British Empire.
Hampshire has more than 200 miles of coastline with beaches including Stokes Bay, Browndown Point, Lee-on-Solent and Old Portsmouth Beach. Go walking along the coast or through the Alver Valley Country Park, hire a bike, or arrange for a pony trek through the New Forest National Park, enjoying the ancient woodlands and pretty villages with free-roaming horses and thatched cottages. Further afield, you can take a ferry from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight or wander around the cathedral city of Winchester.
You'll be very comfortable during your stay at Whitsun Cottage whether you're in the area to explore far and wide for fun or you're there for business.
