George Cottage is utterly charming. Conveniently located in Mitcheldean between Ross-on-Wye and Gloucester, the holiday cottage in Gloucestershire has loads of original features and all the comforts of home with enough space to sleep six people in two bedrooms with a sofa bed in the second sitting room providing accommodation for two more people if required. The layout is ideal for big families, extended or multi-generational families, or six friends or three couples who want excellent access to the superb footpaths and cycling trails for which the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean are famous. Spend happy days mountain biking, hiking and kayaking, and your evenings relaxing in the hot tub and wood-fired sauna or under the stars with the warmth of the firepit keeping you cosy.
Mitcheldean is a friendly village in a picturesque rural setting on the edge of the Forest of Dean. As well as a small supermarket, chippy, microbrewery and a pub within a few minutes' walk of the cottage, it has a lovely late-medieval church and an 11-acre nature reserve, a riot of fluttering colour in summer when the butterflies emerge. Just over a mile south of the cottage is St Anthony's Well. The water in the stone plunge pool is believed to cure skin ailments. Whether or not that's true, it's still a fantastic spot for an incredibly refreshing dip.
The Forest of Dean is perfect for a holiday with many group activities. Go walking at Symond's Yat, kayaking along the Wye, mountain biking, pony trekking or gorge walking. Puzzlewood and Clearwell Caves are favourite family-friendly attractions, as is Hopewell Colliery, and the heritage Dean Forest and Perrygrove Railways. George Cottage and Mill End owners run a specialist hen party planner and can help you organise fun activities like wine tasting and a Mad Hatter's Tea Party. They offer the option of hiring a pizza oven and a fresh pasta making kit. They can also provide catering.
George Cottage is the smaller of two welcoming holiday rentals on the site. It is entirely self-contained and can be booked on its own or with neighbouring Mill End to accommodate groups of up to 40 people for special celebrations, milestone occasions, and hen parties.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Dogs are allowed by arrangement at an additional cost of £25 per dog. Smoking is permitted in the garden.
