Yellow Gate Cottage has lots of character. The charming holiday cottage is centrally located in historic Porlock, a short distance from High Street, where there are cafes, shops and welcoming pubs like The Ship Inn. It's an excellent choice for couples or families seeking a fun and relaxing self-catering holiday on Exmoor, as it sleeps four people in two bedrooms with a family bathroom and off-street parking for two cars a short walk from the property. Dating from the 1800s, the house has been extended and reconfigured to offer open-plan living with lovely oak beams, a palette of pastel shades that add to the light and space, and very comfortable furnishings.
Exmoor is so picturesque you'll hardly know where to explore first. Every day brings a new beautiful view, whether you're discovering the raw beauty of the West Somerset coast, walking across rugged moorland where wild ponies graze or wandering around charming National Trust villages and properties. Porlock is in the heart of Porlock Vale in the north of Exmoor National Park, around a mile from the 630-mile South West Coast Path and within easy reach of Porlock Weir and Bossington Beach. Walk in the footsteps of Coleridge before satisfying your thirst and hunger with a pint and a pub meal. You can buy the essentials from the well-stocked shop in the village and get anything else nearby in Minehead, where there are more places to eat, drink and shop.
Walk or cycle to Porlock Weir, or climb to the top of Dunkery Beacon for the breathtaking panoramic views. Go mountain biking or horse riding, take your binoculars and see how many of the dozens of resident species of birds and wildlife you can spot. Walk along the coast from Porlock Marsh to England's smallest church in Culbone and enjoy the charms of Bossington, Horner and Luccombe villages. Minehead is around 10 minutes by car, with two beaches, a promenade and traditional seaside entertainment.
There are many attractions to enjoy from the vintage West Somerset Railway, the Victorian water-powered funicular between Lynton and Lynmouth, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, and Greencombe Gardens. Yellow Gate Cottage is so welcoming and comfortable that it will be a highlight of a memorable holiday.
