The Stable at White Meadow is a secluded holiday retreat where couples or solo travellers can escape to the peace and beauty of the Devon countryside. It's just outside of Kentisbury on the Exmoor National Park border and within easy reach of the beaches on the North Devon coast. The cottage is within walking distance of the village shop and garage and close to Kentisbury Grange, where the afternoon tea is a memorable treat. The Stable is dog-friendly and available for short breaks or longer stays all year round.
You won't be bored during your stay at The Stable at White Meadow. While we'd completely understand if you decide to spend sunny summer days lounging in the garden or winter ones curled up by the wood burner with a good book, you have an enormous choice of place to go and things to do. Let's start with the North Devon coast, which is nothing short of spectacular. Beaches include Woolacombe, Combe Martin, Croyde, and Saunton Sands. Barricane Beach on a hot day feels like you're in the Caribbean, especially if you stay in the evening for the beach cafe's famous goat curry. If you're happy to navigate the coastal footpath, then you'll be able to get to secluded bays like those at Rockham and Grunta. If you don't feel like navigating the 220 steps down (and back up!) to get to Broadsands beach, then you can always hire a kayak or a paddleboard and come around the headland from Watermouth or Combe Martin by sea.
Being close to Exmoor provides easy access to beautiful footpaths, exciting mountain bike trails and scenic bridleways. Day trips can include a visit to Arlington Court's Regency splendour and the National Trust Carriage Museum, taking the water-powered cliff railway between Lynton and Lynmouth, visiting Exmoor Zoo or the Ilfracombe Aquarium, or shopping at Barnstaple's Victorian Pannier Market. The towns and villages in North Devon host a full calendar of events that include spring fairs, summer agricultural shows, and festivals celebrating food and the arts.
