About Old Tannery Apartment

The Old Tannery Apartment sleeps four guests in two bedrooms and is a single level holiday apartment that is ideally located in the heart of the coastal traditional village of Porlock within the Exmoor National Park. Just a minute's walk from the shops, pubs and restaurants that the High Street has to offer, the apartment is nicely tucked away from the thoroughfare, yet convenient for all the amenities. Ideal for families, friends or couples, The Old Tannery Apartment offers comfortable accommodation at any time of the year in a mews-style setting.

Porlock sits on Somerset's coastline and has the Exmoor National Park as a beautiful backdrop. It is a popular historic village with much old fashioned charm where a warm friendly welcome awaits in its pubs, hotels and restaurants. Sitting one and a half miles from the pretty harbour of Porlock Weir, Porlock itself has a good choice of places to eat, along with gift shops and art galleries to browse, grocery shops, traditional butcher, chemist, visitor's centre and a recreation area where the children can play and adults can enjoy a game of tennis. Nearby Porlock Weir also offers shops, two restaurants and a pub (all three of which are dog friendly).

The seaside town of Minehead is just over five miles away and offers a wider selection of shops with high street banks and two larger supermarkets. Sitting at the point where the moor meets the sea, Minehead provides good old fashioned seaside fun with its beaches (both sand and pebble), promenade and quayside where the coastal path begins providing access to miles of walking.

Exmoor National Park itself is a superb playground for outdoor enthusiasts, whether your passion is walking, mountain biking or horse riding. With a diverse range of scenery which includes pretty villages with country pubs, wooded valleys and heather clad rugged moorland, the area is a haven for wildlife including the famous Exmoor ponies and red deer. It also offers a diverse range of attractions to amuse all ages including the West Somerset Railway, Exmoor Owl and Hawk Centre, Toore Cider Farm, Lundy Island, Exmoor Zoo and Tropiquaria Zoo for the more exotic species to name just a few.

The Old Tannery Apartment offers light and airy accommodation and comprises:

  • Living room with comfortable seating, flatscreen Freeview television, DVD player, CD player (plus iPod docking) and doors leading out to the garden/courtyard.
  • Kitchen at the back of the property with washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob.
  • One double bedroom.
  • One twin bedroom.
  • Spacious bathroom with bath, WC, Wash basin and separate shower cubicle.

Additional information: Wi-Fi is available throughout. Electric, heating, bed linen and towels (please bring your own beach towels) included in the price. The property has electric storage heaters. Dogs welcome by prior arrangement (up to three) at a supplementary charge of £25 (they must not be allow on furniture or left alone at any time in the property. Strictly no smoking. The Old Tannery Apartment is available for short breaks of three or four nights (from Friday to Monday or Monday to Friday) outside of peak season.
