Mulberry cottage sleeps four guests in two bedrooms and is ideally placed for a seaside holiday less than a mile from the coast in Porlock, a picturesque Somerset village close to Minehead nestling within Exmoor's stunning National Park.
Dating back to the 19th Century, this attractive cottage is one of a row, tucked away close to the church in a quiet spot off Porlock's high street with shops and pubs within walking distance. The cottage enjoys a peaceful position away from passing traffic and has views up to the surrounding Exmoor hills, as well as glimpses of St Dubricius, a historic church dating back to the 13th Century. Traditionally furnished, the cottage is a cosy retreat from which to explore Exmoor's many attractions.
Porlock village offers an excellent range of amenities, allowing you to enjoy your holiday without the need to keep getting in the car. There are shops for provisions, pubs for a meal out, a Visitors Centre brimming with information to help you plan your holiday and also Dovery Manor Museum, a free attraction where you can learn about the history and culture of the village. There is also a great playground where little ones can let off steam.
Lace up your walking boots and explore miles of wonderful footpaths straight from the front door, taking you across the rugged Exmoor moorland, beside Hawkcombe stream or along the South West Coastal Path which is accessible from Porlock Bay. Walk to the pretty nearby fishing village of Porlock Weir and along Porlock Bay with salt marshes attracting an abundance of birdlife (on a fine day the views stretch as far as Wales!).
For those who want to explore the wider area, Minehead is only a short car ride away (approximately five miles), as is Dunster with its magnificent castle. In the opposite direction just over the Devon border, yet only twelve miles away are Lynton and Lynmouth which are joined by a cliff-top railway, or discover the beauty of the moor by horse back or Land Rover Safari - the choices are endless.
