About Exmoor Farmhouse

Exmoor Farmhouse will comfortably accommodate up to 14 people in 7 bedrooms, and with its open fires and beautiful location in the Exmoor National Park, it is the perfect place to bring your extended family and friends together for an unforgettable holiday. Even better than having a fantastic view of Exmoor from virtually every room, is knowing that you can walk out of the farmhouse and step straight into the postcard-perfect landscape, with excellent footpaths, bridleways and cycling trails giving direct access to the national park. Exmoor Farmhouse is also within walking distance of Withypool and the popular Royal Oak pub so you can enjoy a pint or two of local Somerset cider with ease.

Withypool is a friendly village with excellent amenities. In addition to the pub, there is a welcoming cafe serving home cooked meals and cakes, and a village shop that is well-stocked with the essentials with fresh produce that comes from local farms. If you contact the shop in advance of your arrival, they will put together your shopping so you can easily pick it up on your arrival. Withypool is best known for its impressive five-arch bridge that spans the River Barle, beside which is a favourite picnic spot. You can take the short stroll to the Tarr Steps, or challenge yourself further along a stretch of the Two Moors Way footpath, which spans 102-miles and two national parks. If it’s hot, cooling off in the river after walking or cycling to Landacre Bridge will keep everyone happy.

Being bored is not even a consideration when you stay at Exmoor Farmhouse. In addition to walking, cycling and horse riding, you can fish in the river, sail, canoe or paddleboard on Wimbleball Lake, or spend a day at the beach surfing, swimming in the sea and coasteering. A less energetic, but no less enjoyable, way to discover the beauty of Exmoor is on a 4WD safari, where expert guides can show you sights you may not otherwise be able to access. Exmoor Farmhouse is close to Dunster, which is a wonderfully preserved medieval village built around an impressive Grade I listed Norman castle, with Minehead, Lynton and Lynmouth, Dulverton, Porlock, Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, and the beautiful beaches of the Somerset and North Devon coast all being within easy reach.

Exmoor Farmhouse is relaxed and welcoming. There is no need to compromise on space or comfort because the owners have created a place where everyone can relax and enjoy their holiday.

Location (Exmoor)

Accommodation Comprises:

Exmoor Farmhouse is an attractive farmhouse with a traditional layout where the living areas are downstairs and the bedrooms are on the first floor. The owners have taken great care to ensure the cottage his not only practical as a home-away-from-home for up to 14 people, but also that it feels luxurious and special because this is your holiday and they want it to be as fun and memorable as you do.

Ground Floor:

  • The entrance hall is light and spacious, with ample room to hang coats and store wellies, with a radiator to make it feel warm and welcoming even on a cold January day.
  • Walk through to the central hall off which all of the downstairs rooms lead. This room is full of warm wood and natural light, with a fireplace to keep away any winter chill. Double doors lead from the central hall to the front garden and can be thrown open in summer to let the sunshine and warm country breeze flood in.
  • There are multiple reception rooms at Exmoor Farmhouse including a living room, snug, games room and study. Each room has a different atmosphere. The living room has a large open fireplace, deep sofas and comfortable upholstered armchairs. Doors open onto the rear garden and terrace, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame the beautiful Exmoor views.
  • The snug is a sunny room between the dining room and living room, providing a peaceful place for reading, quiet conversations, watching films on the large television with Blu-ray player, or sitting peacefully and contemplating the wonderful countryside view.
  • A games room is fun for everyone, with table football and table tennis as well as a selection of family-friendly board games. There is a good choice of books for all ages that guests are welcome to enjoy during their stay.
  • If you need a quiet place to work, take to the study with walls lined with books covering many different topics.
  • The dining room is a fantastic space, perfect for family meals. A long wall of windows looks over the garden and countryside. As with the rest of the living areas, the furnishings have been carefully chosen to create a relaxing environment where you can enjoy spending time with your family and friends. The dining room also has an open fire to add warmth and ambience in winter.
  • Cooks love the kitchen, which is custom made and fitted with high-quality appliances and utensils. There is a table seating 6-8 people, while dual aspect windows let in lots of natural light and provide incredible views.
  • As you would expect in a house of this calibre, there is a downstairs cloakroom.

Upstairs:

All of the bedrooms are upstairs, with each one decorated to exacting standards to deliver a wonderfully memorable experience.

  • Master bedroom suite which is simply breathtaking. The enormous space is L-shaped with a kingsize bed and chaise lounge looking out over Exmoor, a separate sitting area with more stunning views, and an ensuite with a roll top bath, separate shower, handbasin and WC.
  • The first of four double bedrooms sits tucked under the eaves and is beautifully decorated with ample storage, comfortable bedding and lots of good books for bedtime if you forget to bring your own.
  • Second double bedroom which is another quirky shape. It is a favourite with teenage guests, although the decor and layout make it appropriate for any age. A third double room is as beautiful as the first two.
  • Two more double bedrooms and a twin bedroom with two single beds, each comfortable with clothes storage so you can unpack your bags and feel settled immediately.
  • The last room is another king. As it is at the rear of the house, it enjoys amazing Exmoor views.
  • Also upstairs are three family bathrooms, one with a roll-top bath, one with a walk-in shower and one with a bath with shower overhead. Each has a WC and handbasin.

Outside: Exmoor Farmhouse has several outdoor spaces including a large flat lawn area that is perfect for football and other games. The garden is not fully fenced so, while the house and garden are child and pet-friendly, you will need to supervise the fun and games. The main terrace has garden furniture and a barbecue for lazy summer meals. There is off-road parking at the front of the house. The owners can provide stabling and two fields for guests who want to bring their horse on holiday.

Additional Information: Well-behaved pets are welcome at Exmoor Farmhouse for a small weekly surcharge. All utilities, linen and towels are included, as is WiFi. Smoking is not permitted at Exmoor Farmhouse. Short breaks available out of peak season (three night minimum).
