Acorn retreat has stunning grounds and if you are looking for your own piece of countryside not only are there ten acres to explore but you have your own extra private small garden adjacent to the apartment for outdoor breakfasts in the sun or alfresco dining.
The ten acres of beautifully landscaped grounds include lakes, ponds and mature planting, all bordered by the River Bray with its wooded banks. For wildlife enthusiasts there are 'hides' by the lakes where Herons, Kingfishers, Otters and waterfowl maybe observed and in the autumn the roaring of Red Stags booms out over the grounds. Fly fishing for wild Brown Trout is available in season and a bonus for guests.
Situated on the borders of the scenic Exmoor national park Acorn Retreat offers a wealth of opportunities from walking, picnicing, fishing, horse riding, cycling to wildlife photography. On Exmoor you can rediscover your sense of adventure and with the newly awarded status of International Dark Sky, there are recommended places to night sky watch for cosmic activity. Acorn Retreat offers the use of telescopes.
Acorn Retreat is situated above a small rural village and within easy reach of all the Exmoor treks, SW Coastal Path, north Devon beaches and ports out to Lundy Island. Within easy reach of Lorna Doone country, NT Dunster Castle and NT Arlington Court, Broadsands near Coombe Martin and the Woody Bay headland. Many beaches are peaceful and secluded. Surf beaches include Croyde and Woolacombe while the characterful fishing village of Porlock Weir provides good beach combing opportunities and is just a one mile walk along the southwest coastal path to the smallest church in the country: Culbone, accessed only by foot.
Acorn Retreat is well placed to top up on provisions at the small market town of South Molton and the principal town of North Devon, Barnstaple, just eight miles away for a fantastic range of shops, cafés, pubs, cinema and theatre.
Being the only holiday accommodation at this property, Acorn Retreat makes a perfect hideaway for a long stay or last minute romantic short break - a wonderful sanctuary where you can escape for a unique holiday in Devon.

Acorn Retreat is a modern apartment with its own entrance. Apart from the owner's house, to which it is attached, it is the only property on the ten acre estate, which is beautifully landscaped and there for guests to enjoy.
Outside: Acorn Retreat was once a trout farm, and guests can fly fish in season for no additional charge. The estate is bordered by the River Bray which feeds the property's two lakes with fresh water, and there are several ponds which attract birds and dragonflies. It is a wonderful haven that guests are welcome to enjoy, with the grounds including walking trails, picnic tables and a bird hide. Depending on the time of year, guests can expect to see otters, red deer, kingfishers and herons.
Additional Information: All utilities, linen and bath towels are included. Guests are requested to bring their own beach towels. The property has WiFi and central heating throughout. One well-behaved dog is welcome with prior agreement from the owner at an additional charge of £30 per week or £15 per short break. An electric vehicle charger Type 2 (7 KWH) has been installed for guest use. Short breaks are possible depending on availability. No smoking.
