About Oak Cottage

Oak Cottage is located at Nutley Edge and sleeps four guests in two flexible bedrooms (that can be made up as doubles or twins). A welcoming mews style retreat, Oak Cottage is perfect for friends, couples (one or two) and families, and nestles amongst eleven acres of grounds. Ideally located in East Sussex in an enviable location on the edge of the picturesque Ashdown Forest, guests can immerse themselves amongst beautiful scenery and enjoy peace and tranquility. Whether you are looking for a cosy romantic break for two, a family holiday or a weekend away with friends, Oak Cottage is an excellent choice.

This dog-friendly cottage offers open-plan living that is modern, bright and equipped with everything provided for a comfortable stay including a flatscreen television and modern wet room (ideal for those with limited mobility). Fully flexible all year round, you can rent Oak Cottage for a seven night break (or longer!), for a long weekend or a couple of nights mid-week, and being run by a charitable organisation, you can enjoy your holiday knowing that all profits go towards helping people that are vulnerable.

You can do as little or as much as you want at Nutley Edge with a host of attractions within easy reach and plenty of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts. Sitting within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, guests have eleven acres of ground to explore and lovely views over the surrounding rolling farmland which complement any alfresco meal or 'sundowner' at the end of the day. The little ones will love meeting the chickens and resident cat (called Charlie), as well as exploring the nature trail (as will the adults!), wooded area, paddocks, stream, country-challenge course and wildlife pond where you will see birds of prey, long eared bats, rabbits, foxes and even deer if you are lucky enough to catch a glimpse (and up early enough!).

Sitting in an elevated position, Nutley Edge overlooks the majestic beauty of the Ashdown Forest which offers miles of wonderful walks and peaceful places to enjoy a picnic. Whilst cycling is prohibited in the forest (to protect it against damage), there are great cycling opportunities both on the surrounding country lanes and in Deer Leap Park which is popular with mountain bikers. There are also plenty of great days out and attractions to suit all ages including the popular Sussex towns of Battle, Hastings, Brighton, Rye and Lewes, plus the Kentish town of Tunbridge Wells; Pooh Corner in Hartfield, the very place that provided inspiration behind the Winnie-the-Pooh books (and the best place to play 'pooh sticks'!); Soft Rock Climbing in Crowborough; the Llama Park in the Ashdown Forest with lots of animals to see, llamas to feed and donkey rides; Sheffield Park with its stunning gardens (National Trust) in Uckfield and the Bluebell Steam Railway for a nostalgic trip to name just a few.

For those who enjoy golf, you have a choice of three courses nearby (Crowborough Beacon, Royal Ashdown Forest and Sweetwood), along with horse riding in the forest and plenty of pubs to enjoy a leisurely meal out, including the Foresters Arms in Fairwarp (within walking distance).

With so much to do on site, the Ashdown Forest on the doorstep and plenty of great days out and places to visit in East Sussex, you will certainly want to stay for longer than one night!
