Little Marshfoot is an award winning eco-building which has recently been refurbished to a very high standard to offer cosy and comfortable accommodation for two people in a relaxing and contemporary environment. With full central heating and a covered loggia you can take a relaxing break here at any time of the year, protected from the elements yet looking out through the French windows over the gardens into the fields abutting the Pevensey Levels.
The kitchen/diner is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, Bosch electric hob and oven and microwave. Sit at the oak farmhouse style table which seats 4 - 6 and enjoy using the blue and white themed John Lewis china and glassware from the John Lewis ‘coastal’ range. This nautical theme continues with the turquoise glow provided by the lustrolite walls and lighting of the en suite shower, and the various paintings of local scenes and ceramic art in the building.
After a hard day’s sight seeing you can relax in the comfortable lounge and watch TV or a video, and if you want an early night then there is also a TV in the bedroom for you to dose off to.
Little Marshfoot is located on the outskirts of the ancient Market Town of Hailsham in East Sussex, within the grounds of a former farmhouse. Adjacent to the Pevensey Levels, it is well situated to explore the County. Eastbourne is only five miles distant, the historic towns of Lewes, Brighton, Tunbridge Wells and Hastings are within easy distance, and further afield the historic towns of Chichester, Arundel, Winchelsea and Rye are easily accessible; London is only one and a half hours away by train from Polegate. And the really adventurous may like to take a day trip to Dieppe in northern France from Newhaven. The village of Pevensey with its Norman castle and church is just five miles distant, and Herstmonceux village and castle are but four.
Hailsham has a full selection of shops and also has a good leisure centre offering a full range of facilities including a swimming pool complete with flume and fitness centre and an Art Deco cinema which screens all the latest films.
The Pevensey Levels are 3500 hectares in size (a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest), and have been declared a wetland of international importance in the UK with part being a designated Nature Reserve and a haven to wildlife. Here you will find twenty one out of the UK’s twenty eight species of dragonfly, various rare beetles and molluscs, the Fen Raft Spider, indigenous species of flowering water plants and numerous birds including Heron, Reed Warblers, Skylarks, Grebe, Lapwings, Snipe, the Cuckoo, Owls and Kingfishers to name just a few.
The Levels offer tremendous opportunities for bird watchers, walkers and also cyclists with a number of lanes and tracks which cross the Levels, offering safe and quiet cycling.
Further afield the whole area offers numerous tearooms and pubs which offer excellent food and ale.
With so much to see and do, Little Marshfoot is not only the perfect location for exploring this lovely area but it is also a wonderful retreat for those who want to simply relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
