Cairnsmore Stable Cottage (sleeps two to four guests) is located on the private Cairnsmore Estate near Newton Stewart in Galloway, South West Scotland. Set amongst a wealth of beautiful scenery, dominated by the 2,3331 ft granite mass of Cairnsmore of Fleet to the North and the Cree Estuary to the south, this location provides a perfect place to relax and escape the pressures of everyday life.
Located in a two hundred year-old B listed courtyard and stable block, this was once part of the shooting estate for the Dukes of Bedford. The cottage's fantastic tranquil position creates an ideal retreat and is a perfect base for exploring this quiet, beautiful corner of Scotland.
The surrounding area provides wonderful walking opportunities (highlighted in the Newton Stewart Walkfest) and the footpath taking you to the summit of Cairnsmore is only a short walk from the cottage. The local area has much to offer for outdoor lovers including wildlife enthusiasts, along with pretty coastal villages and market towns to explore.
Galloway's villages and towns have much to offer visitors. Newton Stewart, known as the Gateway to the Galloway Hills, including Dungeon Hills, Range of the Awful Hand and Merrick, is still supported by its weekly cattle mart. The town offers a selection of cafés and shops, along with a local cinema of the Art Nouveau period. Others nearby.

Stable Cottage is a former smithy and dining area for the workers of the estate. Today Stable Cottage provides comfortable, single-level holiday accommodation for up to four people.
Refurbished at the beginning of 2010, the under-floor central heating and the domestic hot water for the cottage are provided from heat extracted from a 100m deep bore hole by a Ground Source Heat pump. Stable Cottage provides a welcoming and most comfortable cosy retreat, which is ideal for a relaxing break or holiday at any time of the year.

There are also wash facilities outside for bikes and muddy walking boots.
