About The Lodge House

A beautiful self catering holiday lodge on the Dorset Heritage Coast with access to a private beach.

Set in an enviable position amidst the peaceful grounds of Rousdon Estate in Dorset, this traditional self catering holiday lodge sits within its own private garden, is a short walk from the estate's private beach on the Jurassic Coast, has access to the coastal path, and has a log fire for all year round appeal.

The Lodge sleeps six. All the bedrooms have views over the garden or out onto open fields and are comfortably furnished in traditional style. This is a great place to unwind, search for fossils and fish on the beach just a short walk away, or explore the many coastal walks and the famous undercliff.

Located at the end of a country lane, with a good degree of privacy, well away from any major roads, the Lodge never the less has good access to surrounding attractions. Lyme Regis with its interesting shops and cafes is only ten minutes drive away. At the coastal villages of Beer and Branscombe you can buy fresh fish to barbecue back at the house or book yourself onto one of Harry May's deep sea or mackerel fishing trips from Lyme Regis and catch your own! There are also good traditional country pubs at Axmouth and Marshwood and a local Country Hotel serving lunch and dinner which is a five minute walk through the estate.

Of the many lovely beaches on the coast, the beach on the estate is the quietest with only residents (and guests) having access. It’s an interesting fifteen minute walk down to the undercliff, with a Victorian summerhouse off to the left. But if you prefer you can drive down the bumpy path as far as the pump house, and then take the steps down to the beach. Bear in mind that the steps though maintained by the estate can be challenging and may not be suitable for very young children. Once at the head of the cliff you can also take the National Trust paths and explore the undercliff walk.

This is the perfect base to explore Dorset and Devon with many lovely popular seaside towns just waiting to be explored such as: Bridport; Weymouth; Otterton; Branscombe; Beer; Lyme Regis; Salcome and Sidmouth. There are also numerous attractions and places of interest to visit.
