About Old Kilns

Old Kilns has been skillfully converted from a 17th Century Coach House to provide a unique holiday home for families and couples who appreciate its space and charm. Original features like flagstone floors and exposed beams have been enhanced by modern touches such as central heating and WiFi.

Bloxworth is a small village in Purbeck, Dorset. Surrounded by countryside, it feels remote and peaceful yet is convenient for the A35 and well located for exploring the Purbeck Jurassic Coast and the many lovely towns and villages of South East Dorset. The village is within the boundaries of Wareham Forest and offers some excellent walks. A favourite starts from Bloxworth’s 14th Century Church, St Andrews, and crosses Bere Heath.

Nearby towns include Wareham, Wool and Moreton. All are nice to visit, especially Wareham with its riverside views. Stop and have a pint or meal at The Old Granary which is in a former grain house on the banks of the Frome River. Alternatively, head south-east to Swanage, stopping off at the lovely village of Corfe Castle, named after the romantic castle ruins which are now managed by the National Trust. Other days out could feature a visit to Dorchester where there is a Dinosaur Museum, historic buildings including a Roman townhouse and beautiful Georgian shops, and a market every Wednesday.

A Dorset holiday is not complete without at least one visit to the beach, and you are spoiled for choice when you stay at Old Kilns. As well as popular beaches like Poole and Bournemouth, you can visit Weymouth, Chesil Beach, Boscombe Beach, Freshwater, or Studland Beach and Nature Reserve. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door should certainly be on your Dorset bucket-list, whether you walk along the cliff down to the beach or try your hand at coasteering.

Wonderful holiday in peaceful surroundings. We loved the cottage. It has everything we needed. Spotlessly clean. We enjoyed seeing cows, calves and chickens. We don't want to go home! May '19
