The Winery at Higher Wiscombe is on a private, 52-acre estate in the stunning East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to the Jurassic Coast and only a few miles from Devon's beaches. The luxurious property is perfect for group self-catering in Devon, sleeping up to 20 people in 10 ensuite bedrooms with a 5-Star Gold standard of accommodation throughout. On its own, it's perfect for a holiday with your extended family, a get-together with friends, or hosting a house party for a hen weekend. Higher Wiscombe has three more cottages - each providing the same exceptional standard of accommodation and sleeping six people in three ensuite bedrooms. The properties can be booked together to sleep up to 32 people and are perfect for large group accommodation for special occasions, corporate events, retreats and workshops.

Higher Wiscombe is in a beautiful rural location with no passing traffic or noisy neighbours to disturb your peace and privacy. Despite its secluded location, guests are only two miles from the A375, so it's easy to navigate your way to beaches, towns and favourite attractions. Within a short drive, leisurely cycle or a longer walk are places like Beer, Sidmouth and Branscombe where you can swim, surf, sail and bodyboard. The 40-mile East Devon Way footpath passes Higher Wiscombe on its route between Exmouth and Lyme Regis, and the South West Coast Path is nearby. The Blackdown Hills are just north of Honiton with miles more footpaths, mountain bike trails, and horseriding potential. The Exe Valley cycle route is good for families as the flat trail makes it easy enough for less experienced cyclists to enjoy, and there are more paths at Haldon Forest Park and Tiverton. Dartmoor is just over an hour's drive, providing even more wilderness to explore.

The nearest town with amenities is Honiton, a 10-minute drive away with an excellent variety of places to eat, drink and shop, including a thrice-weekly market every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Exeter is just over half an hour's drive, with a spectacular cathedral and various shops, pubs and restaurants.

You don't have to leave the estate to have a fantastic holiday. In addition to the house's private garden, guests at The Winery have shared use of the estate's outdoor heated swimming pool and an indoor games room with table football and table tennis. The Winery is gorgeous, with big rooms for socialising downstairs and luxurious ensuite bedrooms where guests can unwind in privacy. It is light, fresh and modern, with energy-efficient design features, contemporary furnishings, and spectacular views. Accommodation is over three levels.

  • You'll spend a lot of time in the huge living/dining room and kitchen on the lower ground floor. Glass sliding doors open onto the lower patio/outdoor dining room and frame incredible views. The living room spans the width of the house and has ample seating on sofas and armchairs, with a bar down one end for getting everyone into the party mood. There's also a big wall-mounted flatscreen TV for film nights or other presentations.
  • Second sitting room on the middle level with lots of seating. It's next to a kitchen so is convenient for snacks! Doors open onto the upper outdoor terrace to create another space for easy entertaining.
  • Between the kitchen and the living room is the dining area with an extendable table that comfortably seats 20 to 32 diners.
  • Two kitchens (one on the lower ground floor and one on the ground floor) make it possible to cook for 30+ people with ease. The equipment and appliances are of catering standard and the owner can help arrange for private chefs to fill the freezer with easy to prepare meals or to cook for a special occasion. Each kitchen has a large fridge, modern range cooker with electric ovens and gas hobs, and a dishwasher, and are well-stocked with crockery, glasses, cutlery and serving dishes.
  • Accessible ensuite bedroom on the lower ground floor. It can have either a super-kingsize (6ft-wide) or two single full-sized single beds, depending on your preferred layout. The ensuite is a wheelchair accessible wetroom. Grab rails and other aids can be provided.
  • Nine further ensuite bedrooms on the upper two levels. Four of these rooms have super-kingsize beds while five have zip-link beds that can either be super-kingsize or twin.
  • Utility room with laundry facilities and space to wash muddy paws.

No detail is left overlooked. Guests are greeted with a welcome hamper and fresh flowers around the house. The kitchen has essentials like eco-friendly dishwasher tablets and cleaner, and the house is beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Outside: The Winery is no less impressive outside. Two enormous terraces provide a fantastic space for socialising, with seating space, a long dining table and a barbecue. There is a private garden with panoramic views, and guests also have use of the heated outdoor swimming pool and indoor games room. There is ample car parking and free use of the electric vehicle charging points.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, bath towels, gas for the barbecue, and fuel for the log burner are all provided. Guests to provide towels for the beach or poolside if they are required. Well-behaved dogs are welcome through prior arrangement. Travel cots (no bedding), highchairs, and stairgates are available. Smoking indoors is not permitted. Short breaks taken out of peak season (3 night minimum over the weekend and 4 nights midweek).
