About Strand Cottage

Strand Cottage offers everything you could wish for in a coastal holiday home. Just a short stroll from the water (which you can see from the living area!) its location is just perfect with the beach and great pubs for a meal out within strolling distance.

Stylish and welcoming, Strand Cottage sleeps up to seven guests in four bedrooms and has the living space on the top floor to make the most out of the fabulous views over the water. With accommodation spread out over three floors, there is plenty of space for cooking, eating and relaxing whether you are looking for a family holiday by the sea, a few days away with friends or a romantic break.

Shaldon is a gem of a holiday destination in Devon and one that is perfect whether you want to get out and about exploring or simply stay put and relax. Not only is it close to Dartmoor and the popular beaches of the English Riviera, but it offers all the right ingredients for a holiday on the doorstep. Sitting on the River Teign, you can swim, paddle-board or kayak on Shaldon's main beach, enjoy a long lazy meal in one of the pubs (The Clifford Arms is a good choice!), or laze beside the sheltered waters of Ness Cove which is a pleasant walk or cycle away through Smugglers Tunnel. Shaldon also has its very own zoo where you can see a host of endangered species, as well as a golf course for those who enjoy a round (with seaviews!).

Hop on the historic passenger ferry which runs between Shaldon to the seaside town of Teignmouth (pretty much all year round apart from times like Christmas Day and during poor weather) where you have an even wider choice of places for a meal out, shops and an adventure park which the kids will love. Lace up your walking boots and explore the South West Coastal Path or drive to nearby Dartmoor and discover the rugged beauty of the national park with its rolling moorland, peppered with picturesque villages and country inns just waiting to welcome you.

Sidmouth, Dawlish and the glorious Blue Flag Beach at Dawlish Warren are also within easy driving distance, as are the beautiful beaches of the English Riviera including Torbay, Torquay and Paignton providing yet more choice for a day trip out for those who can tear themselves away from the beauty of Shaldon.

Ground floor

  • First double bedroom which benefits from an en-suite shower room with hand basin and WC. A large bow window (with seat) that runs the length of the room allows the light to fill the room and built-in wardrobe provides ample clothes storage.
  • Second en-suite double bedroom at the back of the property with hanging space and chest of drawers. There is a door that leads off this room into the utility area where the washing machine and freezer are stored (there is also a sink). This en-suite also has a shower, hand basin and WC.

First floor

  • Single bedroom with lovely views over the river. Spacious and comfy, this room has hanging space and a chest of drawers.
  • The fourth bedroom has two single beds and also enjoys views over the river. Two built-in wardrobes provide clothes storage and there is a wash basin.
  • Shower room with WC and hand basin.
  • Kitchen well equipped for self-catering with cooker/hob, fridge, microwave and storage under the island.

Second floor

  • The living area has plenty of space to relax and dine, whilst making the most of the fabulous views over the river. Comfy seating is set around the flatscreen TV and there is a dining table beside the glass wall of windows, allowing you to look over the water whilst you enjoy breakfast, lunch or supper. A door takes you outside to the decking area which is perfect for alfresco dining (outdoor furniture and Gas BBQ provided).

Additional Information: One well-behaved dog is welcome with prior agreement from the owner. The cottage has central heating and WiFi throughout. Short breaks are possible depending on availability. No smoking. Prices include heating, bed linen, electricity and towels. Stair-gates and cot available.
