Smelter's Rest is part of the historic Tamar Union Tin Smelting Works at Weir Quay in Yelverton. This former stone barn has been transformed into a welcoming one-bedroom holiday cottage, making it the perfect getaway in Devon for couples or individuals. Enjoy the luxurious king-sized bed, cosy up on the sofa, or relax on the terrace, which features a BBQ and a firepit—ideal for stargazing in any season. You can easily walk to the waterfront Boatyard Café, and the shops and amenities in Tavistock are just 8 miles away. A stay at Smelter's Rest offers a unique opportunity to experience a piece of English history.
Unsurprisingly, Weir Quay is part of a designated National Landscape (formerly Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty). As part of the Bare Peninsula, it was once a bustling stop for ships en route to the markets in Plymouth. Today, it's a sanctuary for a host of birds, wildlife, and native plants, and it is the ideal spot for a relaxing holiday surrounded by nature. The River Tavy, just 10 minutes by car from Smelter's Rest, has superb seasonal fishing for trout, grayling and salmon, with day and weekly permits readily available from nearby angling clubs. The River Tamar is approx 150 meters away for boating, kayaking and SUP. Or stay dry and enjoy one of the walks from the cottage linked to the Tamara Way.
Local attractions are many and varied, with something to appeal to everyone. The village of Calstock is a delight, with National Trust properties and riverside walks. Spend a day exploring Morewellham Quay, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a living museum dedicated to life in the 19th Century, or take to the wilds of Dartmoor for mountain biking, pony trekking, or hill walking. Tavistock is the county town of Devon with a good choice of shops and amenities, and you're only around half an hour from Plymouth.

Smelter's Rest is a single-storey barn conversion with accommodation all on one level.
Outside: A sunny terrace has a BBQ, a fire pit, and seating, so you can spend as much time outdoors as you wish. There is onsite parking.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, and bath towels are provided. Guests will need to bring cot bedding and beach towels if required. Some well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please ask the owner if you wish to bring your pet before booking. No smoking.
