Rowan Cottage lets you breathe out and unwind. The charming holiday cottage is on a quiet lane close to the centre of Croyde, a five-minute stroll from the seashore and even closer to shops, cafes, restaurants and relaxed pubs like The Thatch. It sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is decorated with a breezy coastal vibe that suits its surroundings perfectly. This self-catering property is ideal for couples or families in all seasons, especially if your goal is to spend as much time as possible at the beach while allowing yourself the flexibility to explore and enjoy the countryside and other North Devon attractions.
Croyde is famous in the surfing community, with conditions that suit beginners and experienced surfers. There is a choice of surf schools and equipment hire, and the cottage has a shed in the garden if you bring your surfboard, SUP, kayak, or bicycle. Adventure lovers can leap off rocks on a guided coasteering tour, watched by hikers on the South West Coast Path and maybe the odd curious seal. As part of the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Croyde has a wealth of footpaths and cycling routes, including one to National Trust Baggy Point. Croyde has retained its relaxed, laid-back atmosphere despite its popularity as a holiday destination. It is livelier in the school holidays, especially when the Goldcoast OceanFest is on, and don't miss summer's Deckchair Cinema.
If you feel like a change of scenery, wander south around the coast to the three-mile-long Saunton Sands or north to wonderful Woolacombe and Barricaine beaches. Those who enjoy a long walk with a few hills will love the stretch of coastal footpath around Morte Point and past Bull Point Lighthouse to Ilfracombe. If that sounds too energetic, then jump on your bicycle and cycle along the mostly flat and traffic-free Tarka Trail. Places to see in North Devon include Exmoor Zoo, The BIG Sheep, The Milky Way Adventure Park, RHS Garden Rosemoor, and a host of award-winning attractions.
