Riverview is one of a collection of holiday chalets ideally placed in a peaceful position on the outskirts of the South Devon village of Galmpton on the English Riviera. Nestling within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Riverview is within easy reach of Brixham and Paignton, nestling amongst the tranquil South Hams countryside overlooking the River Dart.
Popular with small families and couples, Riverview is a good choice for those who enjoy walking, birdwatching, exploring or relaxing on the beach. It has two bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate three adults or two adults and two children.
For a small village, Galmpton has a good range of amenities including an excellent local shop/Post Office, a superb butcher and a pub - all within walking distance of Riverview. The Weary Ploughman Inn is also just a mile away serving food and further amenities (including shops, pubs and restaurants) can be found in Dartmouth, Brixham, Torquay and Paignton - all within easy driving distance and a few miles.
Elberry Cove is the closest beach to Riverview (just a mile) and a peaceful sheltered pebble beach surrounded by woodland adding to the tranquility. The glorious golden beach of Broadsands is also close by (just over a mile) and a popular choice with families due to its sheltered position and calm waters. There are also plenty of other beautiful beaches dotted along the coastline including the well know beaches of the South Hams.
This popular part of Devon has an abundance of attractions for those who can tear themselves away from the beach and sea. Agatha Christie's house Greenway (now owned by the National Trust) is just along the road and a lovely place to indulge in a Devon cream team; or visit another National Trust gem, Coleton Fishacre, an attractive Arts and Crafts style house set in extensive gardens. Younger party members will love a day at Paignton Zoo, a trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway or the waterpark and boating lake at Goodrington Sands (another popular beach with families less than three miles from Riverview). Visit Brixham's famous fish market and pick up supper to cook back at the chalet, or spend the day browsing the boutiques and looking at the boats in the marina in Dartmouth.
For those who enjoy walking, there are miles of coastal footpath to explore with wonderful walks both along the coast and through the countryside, as well as rivers for those who enjoy canoeing and fishing. The choices are endless whether you want to be active, explore or simply relax by the sea.
