About Mulberry Tree

Mulberry Tree Cottage is a romantic cottage next to a sunny courtyard in the coastal town of Appledore. It's perfect for couples or solo visitors who appreciate its central yet quiet location. Shops, cafes and five pubs are all within walking distance, as is Appledore Quay and the seasonal ferry that takes visitors across the estuary to Instow. There is so much to do and see that you'll struggle to fit it all into one stay. It's no surprise that Appledore is a favourite year-round holiday destination.

Appledore is a pretty fishing town with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and excellent amenities. The Taw and Torridge Rivers converge and flow into the Atlantic, providing plenty of opportunities for any water sport you can imagine. Surfing, swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding, sailing, coasteering, windsurfing - if it floats, you'll find it here! In the past, Appledore has served as a significant Viking settlement and a major shipbuilding hub. You can see evidence of both along the South West Coast Footpath between Appledore and Northam Burrows. Cycling is another favourite way to explore. Hire a bike locally and set off along the Tarka Trail, which is also suitable for walking. Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks are under an hour's drive from Mulberry Tree Cottage, with even more miles of footpaths, mountain bike trails and bridleways.

Spend time exploring nearby Barnstaple, with shops that include the Victorian Pannier Market or Bideford and Clovelly. Local attractions include RHS Rosemoor, Exmoor Zoo, Arlington Court and the National Trust Museum, Heddon Valley, and Castle Hill. There are galleries and sculpture gardens, heritage railways, specialist museums, farmers markets and annual festivals. You will feel relaxed, but you'll certainly not be bored during your stay.

Mulberry Tree Cottage is dog friendly and available for holidays all year round.
