Golden Dawn sits in peaceful countryside in the friendly village of Stokeinteignhead, around a mile from the coast and a short walk from the thatched village pub, the Church House Inn. The spacious house with hot tub is detached and surrounded by private gardens, accommodating eight guests in four bedrooms, with a further two on a sofa-bed in the study if required. It is perfect if you have a big family or are on holiday with your extended family or friends.
Devon’s coastal towns and villages can feel crowded in summer but Stokeinteignhead is always quiet and peaceful. It is a great all-rounder holiday destination because there is something to keep everyone happy. If you love being outdoors and active, there are miles of beautiful beaches, coastal footpaths and cycle routes. If you like history and culture, there are stunning churches, well-curated local museums, country houses and romantic ruins. Foodies will undoubtedly be happy with the variety of delicious local goodies produced and sold in the region, including at Old Walls Vineyards near Teignmouth.
The picturesque village of Shaldon is about a mile away, and a pleasant walk or cycle along country lanes. It is across the River Teign from Teignmouth and has a lovely beach, golf course and several excellent pubs. On the way to Shaldon is Ness Cove with its infamous Smuggler's Tunnel, or take the ferry over to Teignmouth where there are more beaches, a pier, promenade, and a good variety of shops and amenities. Newton Abbot is also nearby, and there are lots of towns and villages dotted around Devon for you to discover.
The English Riviera starts just south of Stokeinteignhead, offering every more variety of beaches and entertainment. Staying somewhere so close means you can choose between fantastic beaches like Torquay, Torbay, and Paignton, as well as popular attractions such as Paignton Zoo, Babbacombe Model Village, Dartmouth Steam Railway, Splashdown Waterpark, and the Babbacombe Cliff Railway that leads down to Oddicombe Beach.
The owners of Golden Dawn understand that the best self-catering cottage feels like a home-away-from-home, and is somewhere you can completely relax and enjoy every minute of your holiday.
