Offering a choice of three holiday homes, Fursdon is a traditional farming estate of some seven hundred and fifty acres, set amongst beautiful rolling Devonshire countryside. One of Devon's oldest family homes, it has been within the same family for twenty three generations!
Sitting in the heart of Devon, yet just a twenty minute drive from the vibrant city of Exeter, the estate provides a peaceful haven for those looking to relax, whilst being within easy reach of the many local attractions.
Ideal for couples, families or friends, there are two award winning holiday apartments located within the historic manor house (Park Wing sleeping two to six guests and Garden Wing sleeping three), along with a delightful stone cottage within the grounds offering 5 Star accommodation for up to six guests. Fursdon Cottage (featured in this advert) has a wonderful cosy feel, with lots of character which has been enhanced with a stylish decor and beautiful fabrics. Soak up the sunshine from the terrace garden during the warmer months or snuggle up in front of the log burner on a chilly night. Whatever the time of year, Fursdon Cottage is ideal for a short break or longer stay, lending itself well to a family holiday but equally as appealing and romantic for couples (dogs are also welcome!).
A short walk from the main house, Fursdon Cottage affords its own garden with glorious views over the Exe valley. Guests are also welcome to explore the beautiful gardens of the manor house and walks across the estate with its ancient woodland and panoramic views. There are ponies, sheep and chickens for the little ones to see and swings to play on. Guests can also visit the Coach Hall Tea Room that is open to the public, along with the house and gardens on various dates between Easter and the end of September.
With its beautiful cathedral, the university city of Exeter is only ten miles from Fursdon and offers excellent shopping opportunities, along with a wide choice of restaurants, pubs and good theatres. The bustling market towns of Crediton and Tiverton are also within easy reach (just seven miles) where you can browse the independent shops and stock up on local produce. Sitting on the banks of the River Exe, Tiverton has immense charm and history with its castle, museum and National Trust property, Knightshayes Court. There are also many other houses and gardens to visit in the surrounding area, along with great days out for the children including Paignton Zoo, Crealy Adventure Park, Quadworld and the Tarka Line Scenic Railway to name just a few.
Having two separate coastlines to explore, Devon provides some stunning coastal scenery and great opportunities for walkers who want to take on the challenge of the coastal paths. There are also plenty of beautiful sandy beaches including Croyde and Woolacombe for lazy days by the sea and water sports.
