Dittiscombe Estate & Cottages provide the perfect place to relax amongst the tranquility of a beautiful valley setting. Here you can totally unwind in one of six delightful holiday cottages that accommodate two to six guests, and are dog friendly with twenty acres of valley for the enjoyment of guests and their dogs. Each cottage is comfortably furnished and has a private garden where you can enjoy the views of the surrounding valley. There is an imaginative nature trail which guests can explore or simply sit back and watch the wildlife from the cottage front door. A true piece of heaven . . . peace and quiet in abundance!
Conveniently located, this ideal retreat is easily accessible to the beautiful beaches and wonderful coastal walks including the South West Long Distance Coastal Footpath from Dartmouth to Start Point Lighthouse.
The cottages are just two miles from the village of Slapton with two very good pubs for a meal out. Slapton Ley's lovely fresh water lake provides visitors with the chance to see an abundance of wildlife and take nature safaris. Within easy walking distance of the village is Slapton Sands award winning beach. Venture a short distance further to Torcross and sample some of the areas finest fish and chips at the local pub - well worth the walk!
The attractive popular sailing towns of Salcombe and Dartmouth have much to offer and are within easy reach, as are the bustling market towns of Totnes and Kingsbridge. Guests also have the benefit of a temporary membership during their stay for Dartmouth Golf and Country Club - a five mile drive away with an eighteen-hole golf courses, a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, gym for those seeking exercise and treatments for some holiday pampering (guests receive a 25% discount on the facilities).
The South Hams area is a very special part of South Devon and one of the most unspoilt and beautiful areas in the country, making it a popular holiday destination. With its gentle climate all year round, dramatic coastline, pretty estuaries, beautiful beaches, excellent food and drink producers, lovely historic villages and huge selection of attractions, you will find yourself returning time and time again.

All six holiday homes are 4 Star rated by Visit England and sit at the end of a private lane, in the valley. Carefully renovated, each cottage has individual style and character. With exposed beams, solid stone walls, feature fireplaces and solid flooring, the cottages provide a homely retreat at any time of the year.
Rafters sleeps four guests and two dogs are most welcome. A sliding patio doors leads to a level enclosed garden. The ground floor is open pan with kitchen, dining area and sitting room. Ground floor bathroom with bath and shower over. There are two bedrooms off the galleried landing: one with kingsize bed and other with twin beds.
Buddleia sleeps four guests (plus two dogs). The stable style front door leads to a large enclosed garden surrounded by hedges and fencing. It has direct access to the fields and orchard above the cottage. There is an open plan ground floor with dining, sitting room with log-burner and kitchen, and a ground floor bathroom with shower. Upstairs there is a kingsize bedroom and twin room.
Dovecote sleeps three adults plus one child (as well as two dogs). There is a separate sitting room with log-burner and the back door gives access to small gravel garden, and further steps to higher garden with lovely views and garden gate to the meadows and orchard. There is a dining area and kitchen, and ground floor bathroom with bath with shower over. Upstairs there is a kingsize bedroom, and second room with one single bed and pull out 2’6” bed for a child.
Each cottage has everything you would expect for a cosy break with wood burning stove (except Rafters which has a flame-effect electric fire), comfortable seating, LCD television, DVD player, iPod docking, free Wi-Fi, electric cooker along with a ceramic hob, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment. There is laundry room for the shared use of guests with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a communal car parking area (guests are welcome to unload outside their cottage and return the car to the car park). There is over twenty acres of private valley to explore and a children’s play and picnic area. Further freezer space is available in the Farmhouse, and BBQs can be borrowed from the Farmhouse.
Outside: Each cottage has an individual private garden with lawns, flower and shrub borders, gravel patios with garden furniture and beautiful views over the surrounding valley.
Additional information: Short breaks available from November to March. A complimentary basket of logs is provided. Towels can be provided by prior arrangement at an additional charge (this service is offered at no extra charge to overseas visitors). Beds are made up for guests' arrival. A local company can be recommended for guided kayak tours - what better way to discover the beauty of the local estuaries and rivers. Cot and highchair available. Bike storage available. Up to two dogs are welcome and charged at £25 per dog per week (or £10 per dog for short breaks).
