Clovehayes is a beautiful detached cottage in the Devon village of North Tawton. It's close to Dartmoor and within reach of beaches on both the north and the south coast. It's a lovely modern home with lots of luxurious touches, including Emperor-sized beds that will have you waking up and feeling like royalty every day. The house suits friends or families with older children as it can accommodate up to six people in three bedrooms with a versatile layout to suit your needs. Clovehayes is within walking distance of a pharmacy, small supermarket, and two friendly pubs, including The White Hart (and a third if you are happy for a longer walk or short 5-minute drive).
North Tawton is a small town next to the River Taw. It's only seven miles from Okehampton the Gateway to Dartmoor, providing you with a wide choice of activities virtually on the doorstep. Dartmoor National Park is an untamed wilderness with craggy moors, woodlands and forest, rivers, and its distinctive granite tors. It's a favourite destination for walking, climbing, horse riding and mountain biking all year round. If you're lucky, you'll see a herd of wild Dartmoor ponies grazing freely. These ponies are not only beautiful; they are also vital to the health of the landscape and have lived here happily for thousands of years. There are miles of footpaths and mountain bike trails with fantastic views. The Granite Way runs for 11 miles between Okehampton and Lydford and is suitable for walking or cycling, and the Tarka Trail is also popular.
Local attractions include the heritage Dartmoor Railway, Finch Foundry, Hidden Valley Discovery Park, War Horse Valley Country Park, Okehampton Castle, and the Museum of Dartmoor Life. The Okehampton Golf Club welcomes visitors, and there's an outdoor swimming pool in Chagford that's open between May and September. Just outside of North Tawton, Spires Lakes has two lakes stocked with carp, tench, roach and bream, and is open for fishing all year round. Anglers can also take their rods to Park Mill Farm in Chulmleigh. While you should never approach the wild ponies on Dartmoor, you can get up close and personal to the animals at the Miniature Pony Centre, which has lots of animals as well as ponies. The central location of North Tawton means that beaches on both the north and south coast are within an hour's drive for a day of sunning yourself at the seaside or walking along the South West Coast Footpath. The cathedral city of Exeter is less than an hour's drive, as are places like RHS Rosemoor and Powderham Castle.
Clovehayes is a wonderful place to stay while you relax and enjoy the beauty of Dartmoor.
