About Brimbles

Brimbles sleeps up to ten guests (plus two babies in cots) and is one of two beautifully presented spacious holiday homes sitting on a small family run farm nestling in the heart of Devon amongst beautiful countryside. Home to just a few sheep, chickens, pigs and Aberdeen Angus cattle, the cottages offer the opportunity to experience a taste of country life with superb facilities including a fantastic indoor swimming pool that is heated all year round and play area for children.

Conveniently located for exploring both the south and north coastlines of Devon and also Somerset, guests have a wealth of attractions and National Trust country houses within driving distance for day trips out. Located mid-way between Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks there are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy including golf, walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding to name just a few.

Ideal for friends and families, The Barton Granary and Brimbles offer plenty of space and a high standard of self-catering accommodation. Carefully converted, these Grade II listed barns offer guests the opportunity to relax and unwind in a tranquil countryside setting where you can enjoy enjoy dark starry skies, peace and quiet and an abundance of fresh air.

For those looking for a venue to get together with friends, family or celebrate a special occasion, both holiday homes can be rented together to accommodate large parties of up to twenty guests. Catering can be arranged, along with baby sitting and beauty treatments for those who want some pampering whilst away. Home reared meats are also often available from the farm or can be locally sourced by arrangement.

Location (Devon)

Brimbles was formerly part of the original Jacobean farmstead and formed the dairy and shippen. It is located at the entrance of the farm. The owners have gone to great lengths to retain its original features wherever possible. Accommodation comprises:

Ground floor:

  • Spacious and well equipped kitchen/diner with electric range cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, CD player and door leading to the shared pool-room.
  • Bedroom one with king-size bed and en-suite shower room with WC, shower and wash basin.
  • Bedroom two with two single beds.
  • Television/play room with digital television, DVD player, playstation 2 and toy cuboard. Access to the small enclosed rear garden,
  • Bathroom containing bath with shower over, wash basin and WC.

First floor:

  • Huge sitting room with lovely wood burning stove, open beamed ceiling, digital television, DVD player, CD player/digital radio, iPod docking.
  • Bedroom three which is also a twin with two single beds.
  • Bedroom four with king-size bed and en-suite shower room with WC, shower and wash basin.
  • Bedroom five with bunk beds.
  • Bathroom containing bath with shower over, WC and wash basin.

Outside: There is a courtyard with picnic table and barbecue, access to the utility room with American style washing machine and tumble drier, small fenced garden at the rear of the property (accessed from the downstairs play room) with bench and loungers.

Swimming pool: Guests have the use of a heated indoor swimming pool (available from 10am to 7pm daily) which is accessed from a door in the kitchen and shared with the owners and guests of their second holiday cottage.

Additional information: Electricity, heating, towels (not beach towels), bath robes and bed linen are provided. This is a no smoking property and unfortunately pets cannot be accepted. Short Breaks are available for a minimum of three nights outside peak periods. Free Wi-Fi available. There is parking for up to four cars.
