About Hollytree Garden

Hollytree Garden is in the peaceful Derbyshire village of Boylestone.  Surrounded by fields, with fabulous far-reaching views to the east across Derbyshire's glorious unspoilt countryside, the apartment is a wonderful setting for a holiday for two and sits in a quiet location a few miles south of the Peak District boundary. It is a convenient base for exploring the many popular attractions in the area and a perfect opportunity to relax and escape from reality for a while. It is also just a short walk from the award-winning Lighthouse restaurant.

As well as its natural beauty, the Peak District National Park is renowned for the charm of its towns and villages, with Ashbourne being a particularly good example. Seven miles from Hollytree Garden, the vibrant market town has over 200 listed buildings dating back to Tudor and Georgian times, and a range of independent shops, cafes and pubs. The town is known as the “Gateway to Dovedale” and caters well for visitors with an excellent array of independent shops and supermarkets, as well as a regular market held on Thursdays and Saturdays, where you can buy a variety of locally produced food and drink. Ashbourne is also known for the quality of its antique and curio shops, making it a top choice for a few relaxing hours browsing. The limestone caves and undulating high moorlands of the Peaks sit beyond Ashbourne, as well as The Roaches, a dramatic rocky ridge found to the west in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

Dovedale is a renowned beauty spot and well worth a visit while you are in the area. It is best known for the iconic stepping stones that cross the River Dove, and there are walks to suit all abilities in the locality. A popular walk is to the top of Thorpe Cloud. The steep, 287-metre ascent will reward you with glorious views of Derbyshire and Staffordshire. There is a more gentle path running beside the river for visitors who want a walk that is less strenuous but still beautiful. The Tissington Trail, which runs through Ashbourne Tunnel, then for 13 miles to Parsley Hay, is a pleasant family-friendly cycle route.

Nearby National Trust attractions include The Children's Country House at Sudbury and the National Trust Museum of Childhood, Kedleston Hall, Calke Abbey and The Old Manor, Norbury. Spend the day discovering the delights of places like Bakewell, Matlock Bath or Buxton, with its magnificent Opera House. Or sail on Carsington Water, have fun at Alton Towers, visit The Potteries, or marvel at the sheer opulence of Chatsworth House. Hollytree Garden is a fantastic base to access the best attractions of Ashbourne and the Peak District area.
