Cotton House is a holiday house where you will immediately feel at home. The contemporary townhouse is part of the historic Lea Mills site in Lea Bridge and the Derwent Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site, just a short drive from the Peak District National Park, Matlock, and Matlock Spa. Three double bedrooms comfortably accommodate six people, with the layout suiting families or friends. It's a brilliant option for a holiday in any season with endless opportunities for walking and cycling, as well as family-friendly attractions and picturesque towns and villages to discover. The nearest pub is the Jug and Glass in Lea, a 15-minute stroll or a short cycle away.
Lea Bridge is in the Derwent Valley, a gorgeous patch of Derbyshire countryside just over the eastern border of the Peak District National Park. It's best known as being home to John Smedley Ltd, reputed to be the oldest factory in continuous operation anywhere in the world and producer of superior cotton, cashmere and merino wool knitwear. Explore the area around Lea Bridge via the Derwent Valley Heritage Way footpath, which goes all the way from Shardlow to the Ladybower Reservoir, passing Matlock, Belper and Derby. Wander down to The Mill Shop and treat yourself to a luxuriously soft jumper from the factory's outlet shop.
Local attractions include the magnificent Chatsworth Estate. Admire the museum-quality art and furniture collections inside the house, wander past splendid fountains and around grounds landscaped by Capability Brown in the 1750s, and pet farmyard animals. You could indulge in a spa day in Matlock Bath or thrill yourself on the Heights of Abraham or the rides at Gulliver's Kingdom and Alton Towers. Browse the charming shops and walk beside the river in Bakewell, or go more upmarket in Buxton. You can also add Carsington Reservoir, the Crich Tramway Village, the Peak District Mining Museum, and Poole's Cavern to your itinerary.
Cotton House takes holiday bookings all year round, with short breaks possible depending on availability.
