The Potting Shed is rustic in a comfortably charming way. The owner has taken a simple structure in a peaceful setting on the edge of Dartmoor and filled it with plants, ceramics and beautiful furnishings to create a romantic environment perfect for a self-catering break. As you soak on the balcony hot tub under the leafy canopy of an old oak tree, you'll find it hard to believe that the bustling market town of Okehampton is only a ten-minute walk away. You have easy access to shops, restaurants, bars and other amenities, including a mainline train station, so you can enjoy a holiday without needing a car. It's hard to find fault with this lovely holiday cottage. No wonder it's such a favourite with couples!
Okehampton is a thriving town with great amenities that include a cinema, a regular Sunday morning market and two farm shops, a castle, antique shops, supermarkets, and places to eat and drink. It's a gateway to Dartmoor with fantastic opportunities for walking and mountain biking from the door and stables that offer pony trekking in the ruggedly beautiful landscape. There are direct trains to the cathedral city of Exeter to give even more variety of things to see and do without needing a car to get there.
Bring or hire a bike to enjoy the local trails, including the Granit way cycle path, or walk along the 24-mile Two Castles route from Okehampton to Launceston. Go swimming at Shilley Pool or Old Meldon Pond, play a round of golf at Okehampton Golf Club, or try canoeing, climbing and abseiling at Adventure Okehampton. Local attractions include The Museum of Dartmoor Life, Lydford Gorge, Castle Drogo, and Finch Foundry.
Bookings at The Potting Shed are available all year round, with short breaks (two nights minimum) possible depending on availability. The owner has two other private holiday cottages tucked away in a secluded woodland setting, Humble Bee and The Bird Box.

The Potting Shed is a single-storey holiday cottage in a peaceful woodland setting with a private balcony and views over the treetops to the town below. The interior is not quite open-plan but has different spaces divided by low walls so nature is visible from everywhere in the cottage.
Outside: The cottage is a short walk via a stone path with steps from your car parking space. There is a deck with a sunken outdoor hot tub that you can use at any time of the day or night as there are no neighbours to disturb. Eat breakfast on the overhanging balcony and relax on one of the surprisingly comfortable wheelbarrow chairs.
Additional Information: Utilities, bed linen and bath towels are all included. Smoking, children and pets are not permitted.
