The Landings has all you could wish for in a holiday cottage. The two-bedroom property is beautifully decorated, sleeping two adults and two children. The first-floor apartment has a private entrance and loads of period character that includes rustic oak beams, a fireplace with a log burner, and hand-plastered stone walls. It is tucked away in a quiet courtyard in Kirkby Lonsdale, close to shops, bars, cafes, and pubs, including the Royal Barn, where the smell of their delicious food and freshly roasted coffee will draw you in even if the lure of their traditionally brewed beers doesn't.
Kirkby Lonsdale is beside the River Lune on the western border of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and close to the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland. The thriving community welcomes walkers, mountain bikers, and sightseers all year round, providing excellent amenities for your self-catering stay with a weekly market every Thursday. The town is an excellent base from which to explore with admirable features like the beauty spot overlooking Lune Valley and Underley Hall. This view has changed little since Turner painted it in 1822. Follow the signs through the churchyard to Ruskin's view, named for the writer who declared it "...one of the loveliest views in England, therefore in the world". Take time to appreciate the view, then keep walking for another few minutes to the 13th Century Devil's Bridge.
There is a wealth of footpaths and cycling routes going through or near Kirkby Lonsdale, including the Coast to Coast (C2C), 170-mile Way of the Roses, and Walney to Wear (W2W). Mountain bikers can tackle the trails in the Forest of Bowland or Grizedale and Whinlatter forests and off-road routes through the Lune Valley, Sedbergh and Dentdale. There are miles of footpaths suitable for all abilities, and you're also close to Yordas Cave, Rowten Pot, and other caves around Kingsdale.
Guests who stay at The Landings love that it's so comfortable and central yet quiet and close to parking. Bookings are available all year round.
