Barnwell Farm Cottages - Greyabbey, County Down, Northern Ireland - Sleeps 3-7

Barnwell Farm Cottages

Barnwell Farm Cottages sit at Ards Peninsula's very heart in a tranquil position nicely tucked away off a quiet country road. Just a mile from Strangford Lough wild bird sanctuary (perfect for twitchers), the cottages are close to the Irish Sea (two miles from the coast) so perfect for nature enthusiasts and beach lovers.

The location is surrounded by farmland and unspoilt countryside providing a peaceful and relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of modern living.

The original farmstead was built over 200 years ago and after extensive refurbishment today provides seven self catering holiday cottages that each accommodate between three and seven guests. The cottages can also be rented together to accommodate larger parties of up to thirty four, making them an ideal venue for celebrating a special occasion (for example weddings) or a function/conference.

Cleverly designed to provide a true country experience, the cottages perfectly blend traditional materials, original character and modern conveniences to provide real homes-from-homes that have achieved Four Star Ratings. The proprietors are only too happy to help guests with personal arrangements in advance should there be any special requirements such as providing facilities to bring your dog (a kennel is available outside) or even horse.

There are numerous outdoor pursuits to enjoy in this beautiful area. If you are passionate about walking and cycling you will enjoy exploring the peaceful little country lanes that criss cross the Peninsula, and soaking up the stunning scenery scenery as you explore the countryside and coastline. There are also five different on-site farm trails which guests are welcome to explore, a bird and badger hide and a viewing platform where you can look over to the Isle of Man and Scotland on a clear day.

The cottages are located just one mile from Strangford Lough (one of Europe's most highly regarded bird sanctuaries). Both fresh water fishing and sea angling can be arranged locally and Ballygrangee Fishery (four miles away) is regularly stocked with Rainbow Trout (Fly fishing rods are available for hire).

The owners are able to offer stabling and grazing should you wish to bring your horse away to explore the stunning landscape which hosts a number of equestrian events. Golfers too will not be dissapointed with five eighteen hole courses to choose from within an eight mile radius.
