About The Surveyor's House

The Surveyor's House beautifully combines elegance, style and modern conveniences to create an exceptional holiday retreat for up to four guests (or six with the use of a sofa bed) that feels as lavish as it does welcoming and comfortable. Perfectly placed in the heart of the historic Cotswolds market town of Tetbury, this fabulous townhouse is a popular choice with couples (one or two) looking for a romantic break and families, with an excellent array of shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs on the doorstep.

With a courtyard garden for sitting out in the summer sunshine, and a log burning stove for winter breaks, The Surveyor's House has all year round appeal. There are fabulous independent shops on the doorstep selling everything from freshly baked bread (the bakery has won awards!) for breakfast, to Cotswolds cheese to enjoy in front of the fire after supper. You are also spoilt for choice with lots of great places for a meal out, whether you want a coffee and a slice of cake, a casual meal in a pub, fine dining or a few drinks listening to live music.

Tetbury is a popular holiday destination and sits within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As you would expect for such a picturesque area, there are fantastic opportunities for cyclists and wonderful walks to enjoy. If you want something a little more than a wander around the town, lace up your walking boots and explore the countryside around Highgrove Estate (home to the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall) and the Duchy Home Organic Farm. The Cotswolds Water Park is also close by and offers lovely walks alongside the lakes and water sports.

The Cotswolds is famed for its honey coloured villages and bustling market towns that pepper the beautiful undulating countryside. There are impressive castles (Sudely and Berkeley are just two of the favourites), historic country houses and magnificent gardens to visit including Batsford Arboretum with its oriental theme and fascinating handkerchief tree, and near by Westonbirt Arboretum with over 15,000 trees from all over the world - a world-class garden and a must to visit for anyone with a love for horticulture. The area has more than its fair share of gastro pubs for long lazy lunches, and events at impressive venues such as Blenheim Palace, Cheltenham Race Course and Badminton to name just a few.

Centrally located and just a two hour drive from London (or three hours on a train), The Cotswolds is not only a popular choice for a holiday, but also a weekend away with all the right ingredients to relax and unwind, as well as a plethora of attractions to provide an action-packed holiday itinerary.

Beautifully presented throughout, accommodation is split across three floors and comprises:

Ground floor

  • You walk past the art gallery into the entrance hall at ground level which takes you off to the snug go television room with double sofa bed, wood burning stove and TV. Patio doors take you outside to the courtyard, enclosed by a Cotswolds stone wall - a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine or enjoy a barbecue. Stairs take you up to...

First floor

  • Well equipped kitchen with a good range of striking black units, large fridge/freezer (which dispenses ice and chilled water), built-in oven, five-ring Gas hob, dishwasher and that all important coffee machine (Tassimo). An incredibly social space, the kitchen has a dining table in the centre seating up to ten guests in comfort.
  • Sitting room at the very heart of the house. Draped in classic style, comfortable seating is arranged around a decorative fireplace which gives the effect of a fire without the mess. You can sit in this room, listen to music and watch the activity on the main street outside.

Second floor

  • Master bedroom offering plenty of space with a king-size bed.
  • Twin bedroom with sloping ceilings adding to the charm and two single beds.
  • Bathroom with shower over the bath, WC and wash basin.
  • Laundry cupboard where the washing machine and tumble dryer are stored.

Additional information: Prices include heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and a big basket of logs for the fire. Sorry but no dogs and strictly no smoking. Short breaks available all year round - please enquire with the owner. WiFi internet access. You can pull-up and easily off-load outside and there is a long-stay car park where you can leave cars just around the corner. Cot, high chair and stair gate provided. Lots of little extra thoughtful touches are provided to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. Centrally heated throughout. Wireless speakers have been provided in each room for listening to music.
