About Pebbly Hill Cottage

Pebbly Hill Cottage sleeps two guests and is a modern holiday home located close to Stow-on-the-Wold in a peaceful rural position amongst the beautiful rolling hills of the Cotswolds. Within walking distance of the pretty Gloucestershire village of Bledington with a good country pub and stream running through with resident ducks, the cottage is an ideal self-catering retreat for hiking, cycling, exploring the Cotswolds or just a stroll down the country lanes.

Situated on a bridleway with immediate access to other public footpaths, Pebbly Hill Cottage is ideally placed just a short stroll from a nature reserve where you can see deer grazing if you are lucky and Red Kites and Buzzards soaring up above. You may even spot a notoriously shy kingfisher or curlew!

The King's Head village pub attracts locals and visitors to the village alike and is just a short walk away, on Bledington's village green. Serving very good food of a lunchtime and evening, it is a pleasant place to enjoy a nice meal out and soak up the local atmosphere. Kingham is also nearby (just one and a half miles) and is home to 'The Big Feastival' run by Alex James and Jamie Oliver (the perfect combination of food and music held at the end of August). The renown Wild Rabbit pub and restaurant is also in Kingham, which is owned by Daylesford Organic, who run the nearby farm shop and cafe/restaurant in neighbouring Daylesford - well worth a visit for stocking up on some extra special local produce, another farm shop is Jeremy Clarksons, Diddly Squat, just 5 miles away.

The ancient market town of Stow-on-the-Wold is a short drive away (just a couple of miles), with many interesting independent shops to browse and great selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants. A little further on from Stow is Adam Henderson's farm (from BBC Countryfile) and many gardens to discover including Hidcote, Kiftsgate, Bourton House, Sezincote, Mill Dene and Batsford Arboretum. The National Trust properties of Chastleton House, Snowshill Manor and Lodge Park are all close by.

Bourton on the Water (lovingly known as the 'Little Venice of the Cotswolds') is also worth a visit with its model village and Birdland - a pretty riverside setting with ancient little bridges that criss cross the river allowing you to wander from side to side and browse the shops (don't forget the bread to feed the ducks!).

A little further on is the historic market town of Burford, set on a hill with its excellent choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants, along with little independent shops that put the fun back into shopping. Featured on the TV programme Time Team, Burford is a popular place to visit with Crocodiles of the World and the Cotswold Wildlife Park located just outside the town providing a great day out for all ages.
