George's Getaway packs a punch. Set in a private hillside location on Winchcombe Farm near Upper Tysoe in the north Cotswolds, the three-bedroom timber holiday cottage sleeps six adults in three bedrooms in the main lodge plus a fourth bedroom in a heated outdoor geodome which has a super-king sized circular bed and a telescope for stargazing. There's also space for two extra children. The cottage is perfect for big families with so much space indoors and outside that there's absolutely no question of falling over each other's feet. The owners have considered the comforts of guests of all ages. Kids will love the toys and board games, while grown ups can luxuriate in the seven-person outdoor hot tub, and everyone will enjoy the welcome basket with tasty essentials.
Upper Tysoe is a lovely Warwickshire village surrounded by beautiful countryside. With its scenic views and picturesque Cotswold stone cottages, it's a pretty place to stay. A well-stocked village shop, cafe, and the 15th Century Peacock Inn pub is just a mile from the cottage. It's a leisurely cycle or relatively easy walk from Winchcombe Farm if you don't want to drive. You'll find a good variety of shops and supermarkets a few miles away in Banbury, plus great weekly markets, delicatessens, family-run butchers and grocers in Cotswold towns like Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton, and Moreton-in-Marsh.
Walking and cycling are popular all year round. The landscape around George's Getaway is beautiful every season. Watch spring lambs gambolling in the fields, pick blackberries from laden bushes in late summer, drink in the beauty of russet autumn leaves, and crunch your way over the frosted ground under clear winter skies. Local routes include a five-mile trail to Upton House and Gardens and trails to Edgehill, Winderton, Shenington, Oxhill, and Whatcote. Bike hire is available nearby, and it's also possible to arrange guided cycling and walking tours with a local expert.
The RSC has an exciting calendar of performances - check it before your arrival to ensure you don't miss out on tickets. Day trips can include walking in the footsteps of Shakespeare in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Take a boat trip on the Avon, and admire the residents at the Stratford Butterfly Farm. Warwick Castle is a family-favourite, while a day at Royal Leamington Spa is good for shopping and a spot for lunch. Other local attractions include the Cotswold Wildlife Park, British Motor Museum, Broadway Tower, Blenheim Palace, Bicester Designer Outlet Shopping Village, and the Cotswolds Distillery.
George's Getaway is available for bookings all year round, with short stays possible depending on availability. There are five other equally unique and excellent self-catering properties at Winchcombe Farm you can book if you are holidaying together with your extended family or friends.
