About Doverow Cottage

Doverow Cottage is a delectable morsel of Cotswolds perfection. The two-bedroom holiday cottage in Stonehouse comfortably sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms and is dog-friendly, with character features including wood beams and a log burner. If you dream of long walks through the gorgeous English countryside, friendly pubs (The Woolpack Inn and the Goat are nearby), and endless picture-perfect views, you'll adore your stay here. Woodchester Park and Doverow Wood are virtually on your doorstep, and you're close to some of the Cotswolds' most famous sights and attractions. No wonder this cottage is as popular with couples as with families and friends.

Stonehouse is a welcoming town with excellent amenities and a train station on the Golden Valley Line between Gloucester and Swindon. There is a good choice of places to eat and shop, including a fantastic farm shop a short walk from the cottage, and you're only a few miles from Stroud's award-winning Saturday farmers market if you want more variety. Built in the 1850s, Doverow Cottage is practically modern by Stonehouse standards. Wander around the village and admire the 17th Century Stonehouse Court and the parish church of St. Cyr and St. Julitta, whose roots date back to Norman times.

Doverow Cottage is your gateway to the best of the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire. With Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucester, and Cheltenham all within easy reach, you'll have plenty of options for shopping, sightseeing, and dining out. Nature lovers will appreciate the proximity to Slimbridge Wetlands and Painswick Rococo Gardens, while history buffs can explore the region's rich heritage. And with Bristol, Bath, and Cirencester all within an hour's drive, you'll never run out of things to see and do during your stay at Doverow Cottage.

Accommodation Comprises:

Doverow Cottage is an early Victorian property with all the charm and quirks of a building of its age, including steep and narrow stairs. Accommodation is over three levels.

Ground Floor:

  • A cosy log burner adds to the cottage charm, especially when returning from winter walks. The living/dining area is comfortably furnished with squashy sofas, a bookcase with games and books for all ages, and a dining table seating four.
  • Contrasting with the period features, the kitchen is a contemporary space featuring an integrated dishwasher, a Dolce Gusto-compatible coffee maker, an efficient oven and stove, and all the utensils and equipment required for self-catering. The washing machine is an added bonus, perfect for families with young children who enjoy getting muddy.
  • For convenience, a beautifully tiled family shower room is also on the ground floor.

First Floor:

  • Dream of rolling Cotswold countryside from the comfort of the master bedroom. It has a double bed and plenty of hanging space for clothing.

Top Floor:

  • A clever attic conversion makes the perfect twin room with two single beds, bedside tables and reading lights, and storage.

Outside: Enjoy the morning and evening sunshine from the privacy of your front courtyard and paved rear garden. Parking is free on the street outside.

Additional Information: Two well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement. Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. Please note guests will need to bring their own bedding for the travel cot. Smoking is not allowed.
