Benwell Cottage sleeps four guests and is situated in the pretty village of Upper Oddington, a highly sought after area within the Cotswolds' "Golden Triangle". Perfectly located, the cottage is just three miles from historic Stow-on-the-Wold, Daylesford Organic (walking distance) and near to Kingham which has been voted by Country Life Magazine as the "Best Village".
Within the village are two excellent pubs both serving superb food (The Fox at Oddington and the Horse and Groom), a playground for the little ones and a beautiful XI Century Church. Surrounded by beautiful scenery, there are good walking opportunities from the front door. Walk to Daylesford Organic for a hearty breakfast, lunch or yoga class, or walk to Stow for some retain therapy with plenty of places for refreshments.
Built in the 1980's of local stone, the cottage benefits from good size rooms and ceiling heights, providing spacious accommodation for four with a cosy feel that also makes it a romantic retreat for couples. With two bedrooms (one with the king-size four poster and the other with two singles that can be pushed together and made up as a double), Benwell Cottage is also ideal for two couples who want to spend some time away together catching up. The large cottage garden with fruit trees provides the perfect place for alfresco dining during the warmer months and the wonderful open fire is a relaxing place to sit and catch up with a glass of wine during the winter. Set within the grounds of a larger house and sharing its driveway, the cottage is still relatively private with the bedrooms and the garden positioned at the back of the property. The driveway has electric gates and the garden of the cottage is enclosed so ideal for toddlers who like to explore!
The owner regularly stays at the cottage and did live there before moving to London, therefore the cottage has lots of personality and welcoming personal touches. Enjoy cooking supper in the Aga before retiring to the sitting room to relax in front of the fire, then a good nights sleep in the beautiful four poster bed - the perfect ending to a lovely day walking, hunting, shooting or shopping!
Stow on the Wold is just three miles away and is a popular historic market town with a great selection of restaurants, pubs, tea rooms and coffee houses, along with art galleries, antique shops and boutiques. The idyllic villages of The Slaughters, Bourton-on-the Water, Burford (actually a small town) and Bibury are within easy reach as are the towns of Stratford-upon-Avon, Woodstock, the home to magnificent Blenheim Palace and gardens, and the Spa town of Cheltenham. The area also offers numerous National Trust properties, gardens, historic sites and family oriented attractions.
If you have a passion for food, quintessentially English villages, walking and touring then Benwell Cottage is for you - a beautifully presented cottage for the discerning traveler.
