About Tiptoe Cottage

Tiptoe Cottage brings all your dreams of a perfect family holiday in Cornwall to life. The traditional stone cottage - once an apple barn attached to the main farmhouse - has recently been refurbished to offer a high standard of accommodation for four people in two bedrooms. There is also an additional sitting room on the ground floor with sofa bed providing additional flexibility and sleeping for those who prefer to not climb stairs. The cottage takes its name from the private woodland which is carpeted with wildflowers in the spring and is a lovely place to wander. Despite its peaceful, rural location, Tiptoe Cottage is only a mile from the market town Liskeard, where there are a wealth of shops, cafes and great pubs.

Liskeard is the perfect base for a great Cornwall holiday as it is central to both the beautiful Cornish countryside and the stunning beaches that make this such a popular holiday destination. A good way to explore the historic town is to walk the Heritage Trail which takes around an hour and passes Pipe Well, St Martin’s Church and the Bull Stone. You can pick up a free map and information about the local area from the information centre which is at the entrance to the Liskeard Museum. Stuart House, on The Parade, hosted King Charles I in 1644. It is now a cafe with a lovely courtyard and an impressive Civil War exhibition. Other Liskeard attractions include The Monkey Sanctuary, Moyclare Garden, and Adrenaline Quarry where you can get your blood racing on a 150-foot zip wire.

Tiptoe Cottage is within easy reach of many fantastic attractions in Cornwall, including the world famous Eden Project in St Austell, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the heritage houses and gardens of the Tamar Valley. The cottage is only a ten-minute walk from Liskeard train station from which you can easily travel to the maritime centre of Plymouth, the beaches of Newquay and the galleries of St Ives.

Cornwall’s beaches are world class and you are spoiled for choice when you stay at Tiptoe Cottage as the coast is only seven miles away. Spread your beach towel out on the soft sands at Looe or poke around in the rock pools at Hannafore Beach. Talland Bay is part of both an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Heritage Coast, while the glorious 3 mile sands of Whitsand Bay rarely feels busy even in the height of summer. Polperro beach and harbour is another popular place to visit and as picturesque as they come.

The South West Coast Path runs all the way around Cornwall’s coastline, providing fantastic walking with spectacular views, and there are a wealth of cycling, surfing and horse riding opportunities whether you like things gentle or adventurous. The Caradon Way bike trail runs right past the door.

When you stay at Tiptoe Cottage, you do not have to choose between a holiday at the beach or in the country as it is all within easy reach.

Accommodation Comprises:

Tiptoe Cottage is a converted apple barn attached to the main farmhouse. The owners, who live in the farmhouse, have taken great care to make the cottage a welcoming place to stay, including thoughtful touches like a choice of pillows and a hamper filled with locally produced goodies.

  • The kitchen, dining and living area is all open plan, flowing smoothly from one area to the next, so no one feels isolated or left out if they are cooking.
  • The living room has glass French doors that open onto a paved patio. There are comfortable couches and a flat screen television with satellite channels.
  • The dining area has a round dining table with chairs for four people.
  • The fitted kitchen is decorated in a fresh, country style and features everything you need to make self-catering simple, including an oven/hob, microwave and that all important coffee machine. There is also a washing machine for guest use.
  • A separate sitting room has a couch that opens into a small double sofa bed. It can be used as a third bedroom if required.
  • A family wet-room has a shower, WC, heated towel rail and hand basin.

  • The master bedroom is a generous size, with a king-sized oak bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables with reading lamps.
  • The twin bedroom has two full-sized single beds and features the original exposed oak beams and a sloping roof.
  • A family shower room has a shower cubicle, WC and handbasin.

Outside: The paved patio has garden furniture, parasol and chiminea so is perfect for outdoor dining. Guests have shared use of the large garden, which includes a pond and the woods, as well as private use of the indoor hot tub which is in an annexe attached to the main house. There is off street parking for two cars.

Additional Information: All utilities, linen and towels are included, and the cottage has WiFi access. Changeover day is Saturday, although it may be flexible outside of peak season. Short breaks are possible depending on availability. No smoking. No pets.
