Porth Beach Cottage is a brilliant family holiday home in a fantastic location. Planning a holiday with kids is no joke, but this superb property makes it simple to keep everyone happy. Four spacious bedrooms sleep nine guests, with room for a further two infants in cots. It's stylish and functional - somewhere everyone can feel at home while still enjoying every aspect of being on holiday. The beach is a short walk from the cottage, so you don't have to go through the whole rigmarole of packing the car with everything for a day out (and still forgetting something). You only have to look out the window to check the conditions, grab your towel, and go! Cafes, shops, pubs, and all the other amenities you need for a relaxed self-catering holiday in Cornwall are all within walking distance.
Families love Porth because having fun here is so easy. The beach is good for swimming, with lifeguards on duty between mid-May and the end of September. It's not as popular for surfing as neighbouring Newquay, but it gets a decent break at high tide. There are beachfront restaurants and cafes as well as the usual shops and takeaways you'd expect in a thriving coastal community. Newquay beach is less than a mile from the cottage and easy to reach on foot in 10-15 minutes, though it's worth taking a little longer to walk around Trevelgue Head and the Iron Age fort. Newquay has more amenities, including surfing schools and board hire. Other nearby beaches are Watergate Bay, Holywell Bay, Polzeath, Tolcarne, and Lusty Gaze.
Local attractions are plentiful and include Newquay Zoo, Lappa Valley, the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre, Blue Reef Aquarium, and the South West Coast Path. Padstow's harbour and famous seafood restaurants are half an hour's drive north of the cottage and a popular spot for lunch or dinner. Alternatively, drive south to St Ives for more beaches, great food, art galleries and shops. The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Lands End are also within easy reach for a day out, as is Truro.
Porth Beach Cottage embodies laid-back luxury with features like an outdoor hot tub, cinema room, and little touches, like a fully stocked coffee machine, games consoles, and a Bluetooth music system. Bookings are available all year round.
