About Higher Trowan Cottage

Surrounded by a stunning landscape, where Cornish meadows and craggy moorland meet the sea this former Victorian blacksmiths cottage offers superb luxury holiday accommodation. Set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty a mile to the west of the pretty harbour town of St Ives, this unique granite property has extensive gardens with sweeping sea views and comfortably sleeps four.

It is less than a five minute drive or just a twenty minute countryside walk from the cottage to the sandy beaches, superb restaurants and eclectic galleries of St Ives. Cafes, bars and shops line the cobbled streets. Consisting of twelve individual cottages most of which are privately owned second homes Trowan occupies a secluded cliff top position and has far reaching sea views, to the west is Godrevy Head and the lighthouse which is reputed to have been the inspiration for novelist Virginia Wolf. Colonies of grey seals are frequently seen at The Carracks which lies to the east between Trowan and Zennor. Simply step out of the front door for a choice of beautiful walks or easy access to the coastal path. There is private parking for two cars at the entrance to the hamlet.

Higher Trowan is perfectly located for a restorative and relaxing break at any time throughout the year. After a day of sea and surf enjoy a glass of wine on the patio while you watch the sun go down. On winter evenings snuggle on the sofa in front of the fire. Gather the family round the big farmhouse table and stay in for supper, visit the farmers market, fishmonger or any of the half dozen local farm shops for the freshest, top quality West Country produce. Higher Trowan Cottage is all on one level and the beautiful contemporary living accommodation is full of character and charm. At one end is an open plan lounge/kitchen/diner, at the other are two large bedrooms, one kingsize and one twin. A big modern bathroom with a bath and a shower separates the two.

The lounge has a fabulous woodburner and a huge set of French doors which open out onto the gardens. Television with Freeview/DVD, iPod dock and wi fi are all available.

The kitchen has a farmhouse table with chairs and provides a lovely place to enjoy supper. Beams and hand built units topped with granite worktops preserve the wonderful traditional feel of this lovely room whilst modern day conveniences such as a dishwasher, electric oven with stainless steel hood, microwave and washer/dryer cater for your every need.

Decorated in warm neutral shades reflecting a coastal theme the cottage has designer textiles, natural timber boards and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams creating a lovely fresh and contemporary feel.

Both of the bedrooms are light and airy with a good deal of space. Decorated in restful shades, one room has a king-size bed whilst the other has two singles, all beautifully dressed in crisp white linen with pastel finishing touches to a pretty resting place.

Lying to three sides of the property the fabulous gardens catch the sun all day long. Surrounded by traditional Cornish stone walls there are spectacular sea and countryside views. A barbecue and garden furniture are provided for al fresco dining.

Additional information: Bookings are Friday to Friday. Flexible arrival and departure days may be available outside of peak weeks, please enquire. Short breaks are also available. Non Smoking throughout. Reserved parking is available in St Ives town.
