Garden Cottage sleeps up to four guests in two bedrooms (one double, one bunk bedroom) and is a welcoming holiday home nicely tucked away, yet centrally located in Bodmin town centre close to all the amenities. Ideal at any time of the year, Garden Cottage is an ideal base from which to explore Cornwall and its many attractions, whether you are taking the family away for a holiday or seeking a romantic break. The owners believe they have thought of everything you’ll need for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday!
Although tucked away in a peaceful position, Garden Cottage has everything on its doorstep including the many shops, pubs and eateries of Bodmin (just a five minute walk). There is also a tourist information centre in the town, along with a museum, park with children’s playground and skate park (remember to remind the kids to pack their skate board!).
The Bodmin Beacon Nature Reserve, nestling in Cornish countryside is a great place for a picnic with plenty of space for the kids to fly a kite and let off steam. It is just a fifteen minute walk away, as is the Steam Railway, fascinating Bodmin Jail and the Military Museum - plenty of things to do without the need for a car.
The quirky Trago Mills shopping experience is only a ten minute drive away. It’s an amazing place selling everything from plumbing pipes to designer branded clothing, all at mad prices. Definitely worth a trip to fulfill all those shopping urges - there’s no where else like it!
Are you a lover of outdoor activities? If so bring your bike (or hire one locally) and explore the Camel Trail (fifteen minutes walk from the cottage) that runs to Wadebridge or further on to Padstow with its fantastic restaurants. Enjoy a days sailing in and around picturesque Fowey or try your hand at fishing from Mevagissey. Horse lovers have the opportunity of exploring Bodmin Moor by pony back and walkers have endless opportunities with the Saints Way and Coastal Path. For golfers there are many local courses (including Lanhydrock Golf Club that is just a five minute drive) and if you seek the thrill of the wave, the beaches on the North Coast offer some of the country's best surfing - all within a half hour drive!
Art and Culture? Then a visit to St Ives is a must with its stunning coastal scenery, Tate St Ives and smaller studios and galleries. Watch a concert in the setting of Carnglaze Caverns, or take in a show at the Hall for Cornwall in Truro or the Theatre Royal in Plymouth.
Gardens and stately homes? From the famous Eden Project to Cornwall's grandest house, Lanhydrock, the areas offers plenty of beautiful country houses and gardens to visit including the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trelissick and Caerhayes Estate to name just a few.
Little ones to amuse? When the sun shines, nothing beats a day on the beach (and it doesn't cost a penny!) and there are many beautiful ones within a half hour drive of the cottage. There are also plenty of things to do on a drizzly day. Directly opposite the cottage is the Tourist Information Centre with lots of great suggestions and also its very own spooky dungeon and courtroom with interactive trial reenactment. The Eden Project is a great place for children and Falmouth's National Maritime Museum is sure to be a holiday highlight, as are The Sealife Centre (Plymouth), Gweek Seal Sanctuary and the Monkey Sanctuary which is located close to the popular seaside resort of Looe and sure to be a holiday highlight.
Love browsing shops and visiting harbour towns and cities? Nearby Fowey on the beautiful Fowey Estuary, bustling Padstow, Wadebridge, and Newquay (a surfers paradise) are all great places to visit with lovely independent shops (and a few big names) to browse, along with great restaurants for when you need a break from shopping. The larger towns of Truro, Plymouth and Falmouth are also within easy reach, as is the city of Exeter (just one hour).
Want to leave the car at home? For those travelling by public transport, Bodmin Parkway Station is nearby and a short bus or taxi ride away. Alternatively, by prior arrangement, the owners may be able to collect you. For those coming by coach, National Express Coaches stop five minutes away from the cottage and the bus stop that links up to most places in Cornwall is opposite the cottage.
