About Colvennor Holiday Cottage

Colvennor is an amazing holiday cottage in a fantastic location. The Cornish farmhouse is perfect for families as it sleeps up to five people, plus a baby in a cot, in three bedrooms and has lots of space indoors and out. Two of the bedrooms are ensuite, making it ideal for friends or extended families on holiday together. It's on the edge of the quiet village of Cury on the Lizard Peninsula, close to Helston and two miles from the coast at Poldhu Cove and with gorgeous footpaths and cycling routes from the door.

Helston is the nearest town to Colvennor and the best place to buy provisions for your self-catering cottage holiday. It's a typical Cornish market town with an excellent variety of amenities and a full calendar of fun events that include the Beating of the Bounds - an ancient ritual that's taken place every year since 1585 and the spectacular Flora Day in early May, when the town is closed for dancing in the streets. Walk around Helston's heritage trail to learn more about the town's history before visiting the Museum of Cornish Life. In addition to its supermarket and independent shops, Helston hosts a weekly market every Friday morning in the historical Guildhall building, with around 50 vendors selling locally grown produce and handmade crafts.

Cycle to the beach from Colvennor, which is around two miles from the door. Being near the beach also means you're within walking distance of the magnificent South West Coast Path, which provides far-reaching views that will take your breath away. Another good spot for walking and cycling is the Penrose wildlife sanctuary, which stretches from Coronation Park in Helston all the way down to the coast at Gunwalloe and Porthleven. If you visit Poldhu, keep an eye out for the remnants of the transmission station where the first transatlantic radio message was sent on 12 December 1901.

The Lizard Peninsula is a stunning location for a holiday in every season. In addition to Poldhu, beaches include Church Cove Gunwalloe, Polurrian Cove and Coverack. Some beaches are great for surfing (there's a summer surf school at Poldhu). Others are more sheltered and ideal for paddleboarding and swimming. East-facing Porthoustock is a hot-spot for divers. Go for a bike ride to the lighthouse at Lizard Point, the most southerly point on the British mainland, learn more about the area's marine life at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, or just sit in a sunny spot and enjoy what is one of the mildest climates in England.

Colvennor is a lovely place to stay while you enjoy everything The Lizard has to offer, providing comfortable accommodation all year round.
