About West Wales Cottage

West Wales Cottage is in the delightfully named village of Plwmp (pronounced "Ploomp"), four miles from the Ceredigion coast and spectacular beaches that include Llangrannog and Penbryn. The house sleeps seven people in four bedrooms and has much appeal with an open fire, plenty of space inside and out, character combined with modern conveniences and a fabulous games room log cabin in the garden with pool table and pirate themed escape room game. It is perfect for big families, multi-generational families, or friends who want to experience everything this beautiful part of Britain has to offer.

Ceredigion makes the perfect holiday destination in any season. Far from being some sleepy rural region, the area is alive with beauty and offers a host of attractions and activities that draw people all year round. The beaches are undeniably its best-known asset. There are so many miles of stunning coast that you'll always be able to find a private spot to sit and enjoy the view, sunbathe, surf and swim. Llangrannog is one of the closest beaches. It's a family-favourite with excellent amenities as well as soft sand and clean water. Follow the Ceredigion Coast Path around to Penbryn, taking in the breathtaking views along the way. Take your binoculars to the Ynys Lochtyn headland to watch seals and their pups from a safe distance. Bird watching is also a popular pastime with marine birds thriving in these pristine conditions. Other beaches nearby include Tresaith, Aberporth, New Quay, Cwmtydu, and Mwnt.

Walking is one of the fastest ways to immerse yourself in the scenery. The western side of the Brecon Beacons National Park is about an hour from the cottage, with the Cambrian Mountains and Southern Snowdonia also within reach for a day out. The Carmarthen Fans challenges hikers with 712 metres (2,335ft) of climbing over the 15km (9-mile) mountain trail, or 225m (738ft) of ascent over the shorter 4km (2.5-mile route). Your efforts are rewarded with views of waterfalls, red kites, leaping trout, and much more. There's an excellent range of road routes and off-road trails for cyclists. Add the Aeron Trail, Cardi Bach Trail and Celtic Trail to your itinerary together with the Preseli Stones Trail, Raven MTB Trail, and Gwaun Valley Trail.

You're not short of variety when it comes to fun days out. Attractions include the Teifi Valley Railway, Dyfed Shire Horse Farm, Fantasy Farm Park, Aberystwyth Cliff Railway, National Botanic Gardens, British Bird of Prey Centre, Oakwood Theme Park, and the ever-popular Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. Explore pretty market towns and fishing villages such as Newcastle Emlyn and Fishguard, spend a day in St Davids or Tenby, or book a wildlife-watching boat trip. There are National Trust and Cadw properties, adrenaline activities, and local businesses hosting everything from meditation workshops to guided history tours.

West Wales Cottage is available for bookings all year round, with short breaks possible outside of peak season.

It's a great room for parents who want peace from older children, or grandparents who appreciate their own space.
