The Penny Red is a 5-Star holiday rental beside Aberporth beach. There is nothing between you and incredible views of Ceredigion Bay but a few steps. While everyone else is packing the car with buckets, spades and deckchairs, you're strolling onto the sand, knowing that you can easily pop back to the apartment if you've forgotten anything. The Penny Red is one of three superb holiday homes in The Old Post Office building on the seafront, within walking distance of shops, cafes and welcoming pubs like The Ship Inn. The second-floor apartment sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is perfect for families, friends or couples who appreciate the extra space.
Aberporth has been a favourite holiday destination for generations. Even when it was still a busy fishing village, people would come to enjoy the sheltered sandy beaches, one of which has a slipway for launching boats and the other one with lifeguards in the summer. The entire Ceredigion coastline is laid out like a golden ribbon for you to admire, with a fantastic footpath that makes it easy to walk to neighbouring beaches like Tresaith, Mwnt, Penbryn and Llangrannog. Even at the peak of the summer season, Aberporth feels buzzing and vibrant rather than crowded. There's always space where you can settle back in the sunshine in peace.
Days out can include browsing in Cardigan's independent shops and boutiques, stopping for a restorative pot of tea and a slice of traditionally made Welsh bara brith fruit loaf spread with butter. The River Teifi is a haven for birds and wildlife, which you can see at the Welsh Wildlife Centre in Cilgerrin. New Quay is another lovely coastal town renowned for its deliciously fresh fish and chips. It's also a great place to arrange a wildlife watching boat tour to see the bay's resident dolphins. Further afield, Aberystwyth is an hour's drive north, while the tiny city of St Davids is an hour's south along the coast.
Attractions like Oakwood, The Honey Farm, the Wildlife Marine Centre, Reptile World, and the Devil's Bridge Falls are all popular with visitors who stay at The Penny Red. Bwlch Nant Yr Arian mountain bike centre is in the Cambrian Mountains with singletrack loops across various terrain. Whatever time of the year you visit, you'll always find ways to have fun.
The Penny Red, Two Penny Blue and The Penny Black can, depending on availability, be booked together if you want to holiday with extended family or friends. Please see the owner's website for details.
