The Byre is a charming holiday home in an outstanding rural location close to Aberystwyth. It's one of four self-contained holiday homes on a 200-acre farm in Pont-rhyd-y-groes where the same family have farmed for generations. It sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms with all accommodation entirely on one level. It is ideal for couples or families, but if you want to accommodate extended family or a group of friends, The Byre can be booked with the adjacent Barn, sleeping up to ten people with space for a cot. The cottage is dog-friendly and available for holiday bookings all year round.
Pont-rhyd-y-groes is part of a gorgeous mid-Wales landscape that attracts visitors for its tranquillity as much as its wonderful opportunities for walking and mountain biking. You can see remnants of its mining heritage in the narrow Miners Bridge crossing the Ystwyth Gorge and in what is left of the Fron Goch mine. It's no surprise that walking is a favourite pastime of locals and visitors with favourite routes including the Maenarthur Trail and the Pwllpeiran Trail from Hafod Arch. There's also a beautiful circular route from the water wheel by Miners Bridge, following the flow of the Ystwyth River and passing a waterfall. A short or comfortable bike ride away, the Ceredigion Coast Path offers an alternative but no less spectacular experience with panoramic views over the bay.
One of the many benefits of staying at The Byre is its proximity to Aberystwyth, which gives you the option of spending time in the busy town while still enjoying the deep and satisfying sleep that only comes from staying somewhere without noise and light pollution. Aberystwyth has something for everyone. It's a popular seaside resort with a fantastic Victorian Pier, a university town with lively nightlife, and a place rich in culture and history with attractions that include the National Library of Wales and Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
During your stay at The Byre, things to do include dolphin spotting in Cardigan Bay, taking a ride on the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway to the top of Constitution Hill, visiting the kite feeding centre at Nant yr Arian, and enjoying the beauty of the house and gardens at National Trust Llanerchaeron.
The Byre is available for holiday bookings all year round, so it's easy to escape for a breather when you need it.

It's hard to believe that The Byre was once a cowshed. Today, it's a beautifully finished and furnished holiday home with accommodation entirely on ground floor level.
Outside: The cottage sits on a 200-acre farm and has a private patio with seating, a firepit, and allocated parking.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement. A travel cot is available on request—guests to bring cot bedding if required. Smoking is not permitted.
