The Barn is a beautiful holiday cottage in a gorgeous rural location in Ceredigion. It is one of four self-contained properties at Bythynnod Pengwernydd, where the owner's family has farmed 200 acres for almost a century. Each holiday home is finished and furnished to a high standard, with The Barn sleeping up to six people in two bedrooms with a wheelchair-accessible bedroom and wetroom on the ground floor. You can book it with the adjacent Byre to sleep up to ten people to accommodate groups of extended families or friends. The farm and cottages are in the village of Pont-rhyd-y-groes with great walks and cycling routes from the door.
Pont-rhyd-y-groes is a quiet village named after the stone bridge crossing the River Ystwyth. It was a busy mining community for over a century, remnants of which can be seen at the Fron Goch mine and in the narrow Miners Bridge that spans the Ystwyth Gorge. A favourite local walk starts by the water wheel near the bridge, passing a waterfall and following the river's route before circling back. The Ceredigion countryside is bursting with incredible trails, including around the Hafod Estate, to the waterfalls at Devil's Bridge, along the Pwllpeiran Trail from Hafod Arch, and the Maenarthur Trail. Nearby, the kite feeding centre at Nant yr Arian is a hot spot for mountain biking.
Ceredigion's most important town, Aberystwyth, is only 11 miles from Bythynnod Pengwernydd Cottages. It's a university town with many places to eat, drink and shop, and attractions like the National Library of Wales and the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway. Aberystwyth is a popular seaside resort where the jewel in the pretty seafront is the traditional Victorian pier dating from 1864. The Ceredigion coast is beautiful in all seasons, whether you're sunning yourself on the sand on a summer's day or enjoying a winter's walk along the cliffs before finding a quiet pub with a fireplace and a homecooked meal. Other local attractions include the Llywernog Silver Lead Mine, Strata Florida Abbey, The Magic of Life Butterfly House, and National Trust house and gardens at Llanerchaeron.
The Barn is child and dog-friendly and available for holiday bookings all year round.

All of the holiday cottages at Bythynnod Pengwernydd have received a 4 or 5-star rating from Visit Wales to recognise the high standard of accommodation. The Barn ("Y Sgubor" in Welsh) is a beautiful conversion with accommodation over two levels.

Outside: The cottage has a private patio area with level decking suitable for wheelchair access. Relax and listen to the birdsong during the day, and in the evenings toast marshmallows on the firepit whilst looking at the dark skies. There is allocated parking.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Downstairs is wheelchair accessible - please see the owner's website for their accessibility statement. Well behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement. Smoking is not permitted.
